MDM & Data Governance Lead

Job Description

A client in the transportation and logistics industry is looking for an experienced MDM & Data Governance Lead to serve as the strategic and operational bridge between business leadership and the technical teams that build and maintain our enterprise Single Source of Truth (SSOT) platform - a custom-built MDM solution hosted in AWS, covering Customers, Locations, Contracts, Vehicles, and Workforce (Passengers planned). This high-visibility contractor role demands technical credibility, stakeholder gravitas, and disciplined governance leadership.

Approximately 60-75% of this role is focused on SSOT platform leadership and vendor management; the

remaining 25-40% is dedicated to data governance program stewardship. These two areas are intentionally

integrated - the quality of data definitions directly shapes the master data model, and vice versa.

Skills and Requirements

• 7+ years of experience in data management disciplines, with the majority of that experience focused on

Master Data Management.

• Demonstrated hands-on experience owning or leading an MDM program - not just supporting one.

• Direct experience with data governance programs, including data owner and data steward management,

data definition governance, and data quality frameworks.

• Experience managing offshore vendor teams or outsourced development partners, including holding vendors accountable to delivery quality and timelines.

Technical Proficiency

• Functional fluency in MDM platform concepts: golden records, survivorship, matching and merging, domain

modeling.

• Working knowledge of data quality tooling - Soda experience is a strong differentiator.

• Familiarity with data catalog and lineage tools - Atlan experience is a strong differentiator.

• Ability to write and interpret SQL queries (PostgreSQL preferred) at a working level - sufficient to

interrogate SSOT data, validate definitions, and support ad-hoc business reporting. This is not a hands-on

engineering role.

• Comfort with AWS-hosted data environments and modern data platform concepts.

• Familiarity with data visualization tools (Power BI preferred) to partner effectively with the BI team on
