Quest Defense Systems and Solutions is seeking a highly motivated Software Engineer to play a key role in integrating Simulink-generated code into complex systems. This role will be instrumental in building a more structured and documented software development process, moving beyond loose prototyping and towards a repeatable, qualified workflow. You will contribute to multiple projects ranging from prototype development to production-ready software.

This role will need to be local to the Cincinnati, OH area or willing to relocate. Due to the nature of the role an active Secret Clearance is required,

Responsibilities:


  • Simulink Integration: Primarily responsible for integrating code generated from Simulink models into larger systems.

  • Tool Development & Integration: Design, develop, and maintain tools to support the software development lifecycle, including test harness development in Simulink and tools for status/metrics tracking. Languages used will vary based on project needs (Python, Perl, Bash scripting, and MATLAB scripting).

  • Model-Based Design (MBD) Workflow: Contribute to the establishment and improvement of our MBD processes using Simulink and qualified code verification tools.

  • Testing & Verification: Develop and execute tests to ensure the quality and reliability of generated code and integrated systems.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain clear, concise documentation of software designs, tools, and processes.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with a team of engineers on multiple concurrent projects.

  • Transition & Modernization: Assist in the transition away from legacy tools (Synergy, DOORS) and embrace a new workflow leveraging Simulink, GitHub, and modern development practices.

  • Deployment: While some development can occur outside of a controlled environment, final deployment of code will require work within a cleared/closed area.

Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.

  • 4+ years of experience with Model-Based Design (MBD) using Simulink.

  • Proficiency in at least one scripting language (Python preferred).

  • Experience with software testing and verification techniques.

  • Familiarity with version control systems (GitHub preferred).

  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.

  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills:


  • Experience with qualified code verification tools.

  • Familiarity with aerospace or defense industry standards (DO-178C).

  • Experience with MATLAB scripting.

  • Knowledge of requirements management tools (experience transitioning away from DOORS is a plus).

Software/Tools:


  • MATLAB/Simulink (2024a or later)

  • GitHub

  • Python, Perl, Bash scripting

  • Qualified Code Verifier (experience with specific tools a plus)

Full compensation package is based on candidate experience and certifications

Pay Ranges

$83,500—$100,000 USD
