Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Ohio healthcare job)
• Facility: Large academic hospital – Respiratory Therapy Unit (CC99285)
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, travel contract
• Start Date: September 22, 2025
• End Date: December 22, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), weekdays and some weekends
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1,830 - $1,880
• Floating: May float to main campus or East Hospital as needed
• Equipment: GE Ventilators (preferred: GE 860)
• Charting System: Epic EMR
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric patients

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Active Ohio RRT license or eligibility (required for Ohio respiratory therapist jobs)
• Minimum 1 year of recent hospital experience as a Registered Respiratory Therapist
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• CRT and RRT credentials required
• Experience in adult critical care and mechanical ventilation
• Familiarity with Epic charting system preferred
• Ability to interpret ABGs and manage advanced respiratory therapies (BiPAP, CPAP, HFNC, tracheostomy care)
• Previous travel respiratory therapist experience preferred
• Must complete Ohio fingerprinting process upon contract signing
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Two professional references required (at least one from a supervisor or manager)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to adult and geriatric patients in a hospital setting
• Perform patient assessments, initiate and manage ventilator support, and provide advanced airway management
• Administer respiratory medications and therapies (aerosol treatments, inhaled steroids, nitric oxide)
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapy as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to develop and implement patient care plans
• Float to other hospital units or campuses as required
• Document all care provided using the Epic electronic medical record system
• Participate in orientation and ongoing compliance training
