Description
The Director of Program Management, Commercial HVAC, leads the planning, execution, and delivery of end-to-end new product development programs - from concept through launch and lifecycle transition - for the Commercial HVAC Vertical. This role is responsible for delivering new products - on time and within budget - that meet quality, customer, and business objectives. The Director partners closely with Product, Engineering, R&D, Marketing, Operations, and Supply Chain to drive seamless cross-functional execution and accelerate time-to-market.
As the Director of Program Management, you will:
Lead the full lifecycle of new product development programs, from ideation and feasibility through development, validation, launch, and post-launch support
Define and drive NPD program strategy, including timelines, milestones, resource plans, and go-to-market readiness
Lead and develop a high-performing team of program managers focused on NPD execution
Engage with Enterprise PMO to leverage Copeland New Product Development processes, ensuring disciplined execution and decision-making
Partner with Product Management to translate market requirements into executable development plans
Collaborate with Engineering and R&D to manage design, development, prototyping, and validation activities
Work with Operations and Supply Chain to ensure manufacturability, sourcing readiness, and smooth production ramp-up
Identify and mitigate risks related to technology, schedule, cost, quality, and supply chain constraints
Drive cross-functional alignment on priorities, trade-offs, and resource allocation
Oversee program budgets, capital expenditures, and ROI tracking for new product initiatives
Ensure readiness for product launch, including regulatory compliance, quality standards, and commercialization plans
Lead post-launch reviews to capture lessons learned and improve future NPD processes
Champion continuous improvement in product development methodologies, tools, and metrics (e.g., time-to-market, cost targets, product performance)
Required education, experiences & skills:
Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Business, or related field (MBA or advanced degree preferred)
10+ years of experience in program/project management, with significant experience in NPD
Experience leading and influencing teams in a globally matrixed organizational structure
Proven track record of successfully launching complex products
Strong leadership and team management experience
Ability to merge the understanding of technical concepts with financial/business acumen
Deep understanding of product development lifecycles and gate management methodologies
Strong executive communication/presentation skills and ability to influence internal and external
Preferred education, experiences & skills:
PMP, PgMP, or equivalent certification
Marketing or technical undergraduate degree
HVAC/R industry experience
Technical work experience
Strong analytical and decision-making capabilities

About our Location
The newly renovated Sidney campus has 1M square feet of manufacturing floor with an additional 120k square feet of leading-edge lab facilities. This location is the headquarters for the air conditioning and cold chain businesses. Through our 30 years of scroll compressor expertise, our air conditioning related products help bring comfort and convenience in commercial, industrial and residential spaces. The cold chain business helps ensure that food safely and efficiently travels from farm to fork. Approximately 1600 employees work in Sidney, who all support a multitude of business functions. With the blend of businesses and functions represented under this one roof, there are many opportunities for advancement within the Sidney location
Collaboration First Hybrid Work Arrangements :
This role is hybrid eligible with the requirement to be in office at least three days per week. Colleagues are expected to demonstrate a collaboration first mindset, which is the understanding that teams will work together in-person and colleagues should be flexible to adjust their hybrid days based on business needs. You will have an opportunity to work with your team and leader to determine when you should be in office to drive meaningful connections and to best serve our customers.
