About the Position: We are seeking a Senior Roadway/Highway Engineer to provide technical leadership within our growing Transportation Group. This role is designed for a Professional Engineer who can navigate the complexities of interstate expansions, roadway rehabilitations, and innovative intersection designs like roundabouts. You will be responsible for the full project lifecycle—from proposal development and technical computations to supervising junior staff and ensuring all deliverables exceed industry standards for safety and functionality. Key Responsibilities Technical Leadership: Lead the design and construction oversight for diverse infrastructure projects, including roadway widening, toll lanes, and bridge rehabilitations. Supervisory Review: Direct junior engineers in the development of vertical and horizontal alignments, cross-sections, super-elevations, and grading. Project Management: Manage small to mid-level projects, including tracking hours, managing budgets, and ensuring strict adherence to QA/QC protocols. Innovative Design: Provide creative engineering solutions for roundabouts, transit structures, and intersection improvements. Proposal & Business Development: Assist with technical concepts for proposals and presentations; develop and maintain relationships with owners, contractors, and sub-consultants. Hydraulic & Structural Interface: Interface with other engineering disciplines using predictive models and software for comprehensive site analysis (e.g., HEC-RAS for drainage impacts). Compliance: Ensure all engineering services align with professional standards, client requirements, and relevant civil construction laws and codes. Required Qualifications Experience: 10+ years of relevant post-education experience in civil design and transportation infrastructure. Licensure: Professional Engineer (PE) license in the State of Ohio is required. Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related discipline (Master’s Degree preferred). Software Proficiency: Mastery of discipline-specific design software including MicroStation, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and InRoads/Geopak. Technical Mastery: Deep knowledge of civil engineering principles, design/build processes, permitting, and material quantity takeoffs. Communication: Effective interpersonal skills with the ability to express complex technical ideas to both engineering and non-engineering audiences. Preferred Qualifications Multi-State Licensure: PE registration in states beyond Ohio. Advanced Modeling: Experience with specialized tools such as ArcGIS, HEC-HMS, or structural analysis software like STAAD.
