We are looking for a detail-oriented Bookkeeper to support daily financial operations for a mission-driven organization in Columbus, Ohio. This is a contract position suited for someone who is confident managing core bookkeeping tasks, maintaining accurate records, and assisting with recurring accounting activities. The ideal candidate will bring strong QuickBooks experience and a steady, organized approach to handling payables, receivables, payroll coordination, and month-end support.
Responsibilities:
• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping activities and keep financial records accurate, organized, and up to date.
• Process monthly check runs and ensure payments are prepared, reviewed, and recorded correctly.
• Handle accounts payable and accounts receivable functions for a small business environment, including tracking invoices and incoming payments.
• Coordinate payroll processing for a workforce of fewer than 50 employees using Paylocity.
• Reconcile bank accounts regularly and investigate discrepancies to maintain clean financial data.
• Assist with month-end closing activities by preparing supporting documentation and completing assigned accounting tasks.
• Maintain financial entries in QuickBooks and help ensure transactions are coded appropriately.
• Support the accounting function for an organization with salaried staff and annual revenue of approximately $5 million.
• Proven experience in bookkeeping within a small business or similar operating environment.• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks, with the ability to manage routine financial transactions independently.
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations.
• Familiarity with payroll processing and coordinating employee pay through payroll platforms such as Paylocity.
• Ability to maintain accuracy while managing recurring financial deadlines and transaction volumes.
• Solid organizational skills and attention to detail in handling financial records and documentation.
• Comfortable supporting month-end accounting processes in collaboration with finance leadership.
