Job Summary : law firm seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Employee Benefits Attorney to advise clients on a wide range of employee benefits and executive compensation matters. This role involves interpreting complex federal and state regulations, pension, deferred compensation including ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and the ACA, and ensuring clients remain compliant while optimizing their benefits strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide legal counsel on employee benefits, retirement plans, pension, deferred compensation and executive compensation
• Draft, review, and negotiate plan documents, amendments, and related agreements
• Ensure compliance with ERISA, IRS, DOL, and other regulatory requirements
• Represent clients in benefits-related disputes and litigation
• Collaborate with HR and benefits teams to implement compliant policies
• Monitor legal developments and advise on necessary policy updates
• Conduct training sessions on benefits compliance and best practices

Qualifications:

• J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
• Active membership in good standing with a state bar
• 3+ years of experience in employee benefits law, including ERISA and executive compensation
• Strong analytical, communication, and negotiation skills
• Experience with both qualified and non-qualified retirement plans is a plus

Preferred Experience:

• Advising on benefits issues in mergers and acquisitions

• Familiarity with Sections 409A and 280G of the Internal Revenue Code

• Portable business or demonstrated client development ability
