The Miami University Center for Career Exploration and Success (CCES) is seeking an Associate Director for Employer Relations designed to support the growth and management of employer relationships and cultivate internship and job opportunities for all Miami University (OH) undergraduate and graduate students.Reporting to the Director of Employer Relations, the Associate Director will have excellent teamwork and communication skills and understand employer relations, college recruiting, employment and recruiting trends, and develop an in-depth familiarity with the employment needs of assigned Colleges and Career Clusters. Additionally, this role will serve as a consultant to employers looking to expand their talent pipelines and provide employers with virtual and in-person engagement opportunities that foster mentoring and networking with students.
The Associate Director of Employer Relations is a member of the Employer Relations Team (ERT) within CCES which includes the Director, Associate Director, Assistant Director, Recruiting Coordinator, and two positions shared with their aligned Colleges: Director of Industry Relations for the College of Engineering and Computing, and Senior Associate Director of External Relations for the College of Arts and Sciences. ERT collaborates and backs-up the work of each other as needed.
CCES is a growing office with an ambitious strategic plan designed to situate students for lifelong career mobility and satisfaction. Our efforts in collaboration with Miami’s Career Community, extend beyond the typical career center offerings as we strive to be the most immersive and comprehensive four-year career development experience in the nation.
Our office comprises five teams including Career Development, Experiential Education, Employer Relations, Operations, and Administrative. The Center for Career Exploration and Success provides ample professional development to staff.
Job Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop new and maintain existing employer relationships and work actively to promote recruitment of Miami University students through direct contact with employers. Leveraging technology and personalized outreach efforts, work together with CCES staff and Miami University Divisions (i.e. Academics, Advancement, Student Life and Enrollment Management and Student Success) as needed. Lead employer relations efforts for assigned career clusters and/or colleges.
Advises employers on recruiting strategies that will help them build their brands and increase loyalty to Miami University and its students. Serve as the connector between students and employers including arranging employer participation in various CCES events and programs. Stay abreast of recruiting strategies and leverage appropriate technology to conduct employer outreach and produce reports.
Plan and lead Miami University professional development sessions for employers including virtual #HireMiamiOH Engagement Sessions, the annual RedHawk Recruiting Summit, town halls, industry roundtables, etc.
Build and manage a new Employer Advisory Board, coordinating biannual meetings and facilitating discussion which will inform the work of the Center for Career Exploration and Success.
Oversee the full-time Recruiting Coordinator and employer interview program and policies, providing supervision, mentoring, and strategic direction.
Support the employer relations efforts within startup organizations and in collaboration with Entrepreneurship programs.
Supports the collection, analysis, and reporting of data regarding recruiting activities, job placements and salaries.
Lead and execute special projects assigned.
Assist in the coordination of office-wide special events, programs, workshops, and career fairs, and other events as needed. Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and five years of professional work experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree and at least 5 years of experience including previous supervision of permanent staff.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Proven ability to build and nurture networks of internal and external relationships and produce results. Customer service skills including strong interpersonal, communications, and presentation skills.
