Job Summary :
Under the direction of the Central Billing Office Manager and part of an outstanding, experienced, knowledgeable Central Billing Team, Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for insurance follow-up, claim appeals, working denials, payment posting, and various claims processing tasks.
Position Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED required
- Minimum of five years of medical billing or equivalent experience required; Behavioral Health experience preferred.
Key Responsibilities / Job Accountabilities:
- Review and processing of outstanding third party payer Accounts Receivable
- Completion of necessary claim appeal related to denials and short payments.
- Knowledge of Patient insurance and benefit verification/eligibility
- Knowledgeable of criteria for Medicare, Medicaid, HMO and private insurance coverage and payer portals.
- Posting of payments from insurance companies
- Communicate daily with insurance carriers, patients, office staff, and other third parties to collect outstanding balances due, resolve disputes, denials, and general nonpayment issues.
- Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Additional Skills / Qualifications:
- Strong computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel. Will need to master additional software including billing software.
- Excellent telephone and communication skills.
- Detailed use of Payer Portals
- Effective oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems effectively and efficiently.
- Execute various paperwork, like information files processing, and other daily administrative tasks.
- Maintain an efficient, organized work environment.
