Research Veterinary Technician II

As a Research Veterinary Technician, you will monitor the health and wellbeing of research animals within the NC4, a primary rodent housing area comprised of 12 general holding rooms, a quarantine room and space used for special research requirements or studies. You will handle all of their diagnostic medicine while ensuring their safety and ongoing care. Your efforts will ultimately support foundational pre-clinical research that will one day improve the lives of patients around the world. **A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30AM - 4:00PM or 8:30AM - 5:00PM.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Evaluate animals upon arrival and during the quarantine period. + Administer medical treatments to animals. + Assist the Veterinarian, investigators and animal caregivers with performing technical procedures. + Monitor the conditions of post-operative animals and animals requiring veterinary care. + Develop and implement animal health treatment plans and communicate the plan to research personnel. + Maintain accurate records. + Perform the duties of an Animal Surgery Technician and assist Veterinarians and investigators by performing special surgical, medical or experimental techniques or procedures. + Assist the Veterinarians with the Sentinel Health Monitoring Program and works with minimal supervision on Veterinary Services programs and projects. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Associate's Degree from a Veterinary Technician Program + Current licensure as a Registered Veterinary Technician (VT) in the State of Ohio + At least two (2) years' experience with demonstrated competence as a licensed Veterinary Technician. Click the link and see how we're dedicated to providing what matters most to you: **Physical Requirements:** + Ability to lift and transport equipment, supplies and/or animals weighing up to 75 pounds using carts with casters. + Capable of tolerating a significant amount of standing, bending and walking. + May be required to work with biological, chemical and radiation hazards after proper training **Personal Protective Equipment:** + Follows Standard Precautions using personal protective equipment as required for procedures. **Pay Range** Minimum hourly: $17.25 Maximum hourly: $26.31 The pay range displayed on this job posting reflects the anticipated range for new hires. A successful candidate's actual compensation will be determined after taking factors into consideration such as the candidate's work history, experience, skill set and education.
