Low Voltage Cable Installer
Microman, Inc.’s Cabling Division is currently seeking a highly motivated self-starter to join our team in a low voltage cabling installation capacity. The candidate must have experience with the installation of all types of copper and fiber for low voltage systems. BICSI certifications are not required but preferred. OSHA safety certification a plus. Microman, Inc. is an E.O.E and drug-free workplace.
Major Responsibilities/Activities:
- Meeting customers’ needs and exceeding their expectations.
- Ownership of basic telecom tools: Punch down, snips, wire strippers, cordless drill, hard hat, boots, safety glasses, etc.
- Familiarity with BICSI, EIA, TIA or NEC Standards.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check and provide professional references.
- Must adhere to OSHA safety standards.
- Ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to read blueprints and translate them into installations.
- Terminates all cable assemblies to proper standards as dictated by the customer.
- Install customers’ equipment in a safe and secure manner.
- Install wiring in a professional, organized, and neat manner that creates a maintenance friendly work environment for the customer.
- Completes all associated paperwork in a timely and efficient manner as per company requirements.
- Responsible for compliance to proper quality assurance.
- Daily communication with Supervisor to resolve problems and discuss job status.
- Manages and accounts for material usage and equipment on site.
Minimum Requirements:
- Valid driver's license.
- Must have own means of transportation to arrive at the required jobsite.
- At least 2 years of experience in cabling installations.
- Must have knowledge of how to use a CAT 3/5/5e/6 test equipment.
- Knowledge of fiber optic test equipment.
- Must be capable of working in confined spaces for occasional and sometimes extended periods of time to complete an installation.
- Must be able to carry and climb a ladder.
- Must be capable of working over 10 feet from ground level.
- Must be able to work overtime as needed, as well as irregular hours and days including weekends and official holidays.
- Must be able to carry various tools and equipment weighing up to 50 lbs. during the workday.
- Must be willing to travel.
