Job Summary

Financial Governance Manager provides value-added data, reporting and analysis services to enable leaders to make informed decisions and meet or exceed goals and objectives. Partners with Executives across NiSource to interpret and translate their reporting requirements, drive processes and execute continuous improvement initiatives while delivering accurate information within specified deadlines.

  • Meaningful summaries of information provided to NiSource business leaders used to optimize performance

  • Accurate and timely management reports, analytical studies and recommendations that accurately reflect data deemed important by NiSource business leaders

  • Strategic relationships with Executive stakeholders

  • Collaborative team environment that leverages relationships throughout NiSource and builds trust and credibility

  • High functioning Management Reporting and Analytics team

Principal Duties and Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of financial statements and an advanced knowledge of metrics, measures and key strategic business initiatives.

  • Leverage visualization techniques and tools (i.e. Tableau) to compile, organize and format data in order to design, develop and produce internal and external management reports for senior level executives, Board of Directors and other internal and external entities that carry accurate, clear and concise messages.

  • Develops and manages the reporting cadence, ensuring data is available when needed.

  • Consolidates data streams and enables leaders to more easily assess and improve performance

  • Continually evaluates process and timeline effectiveness, provides recommendations on increasing effectiveness and efficiency.

  • Leads with a continuous improvement focus and mindset not only in reporting and data analysis but by promoting and assisting projects across the greater FP&A team.

  • Consistently evaluates stakeholder needs to adjust processes and deliverables to meet changing business need

  • Leads data analysis and ensures data is synthesized into meaningful management information and implement solutions & provide recommendations that drive results on company initiatives & objectives

  • Prioritizes and manages the creation of ad-hoc presentations

  • Executes quality standards of flawless and error-free reporting. Reviews reports and presentations for accuracy and quality.

  • Recommends metrics and measures to be formally leveraged in performance management processes throughout NiSource

  • Leads the analysis of data, identification of trends, and the creation of executive summary conclusions and action recommend plans

  • Oversees completion and analysis of benchmark and peer utility studies drawing meaningful Executive recommendations and summaries

  • Compiles and reviews exhibits for regulatory filings and respond to interrogatories

  • Supervises analysts that collect and analyze data from multiple sources, outline facts, and draw well-supported conclusions to drive business decisions and efficiencies

  • Responsible for hiring, training, evaluation and direction of management reporting analysts

  • Continued and progressive development of team

  • Builds strong working relationships throughout NiSource

Required Qualifications for Position

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience

  • 4 years or more experience in finance, accounting, regulatory, data analytics or a related field

  • Demonstrated leadership ability as evidenced by prior success in leading teams or projects

  • Experience in executing analytic assignments or performing in a role requiring data analysis

  • Exposure to visualizing results (Tableau, PowerBI, Excel, Cognos Analytics)

  • Familiarity with statistical concepts and modeling

  • Being transparent and objective with data results

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills

  • Adaptability to changing work requirements with tight deadlines

  • High degree of flexibility in work schedule and in project prioritization and execution

  • Ability to detail and timing

  • Reviews work to ensure accuracy and quality.

  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize team workload in demanding, priority driven environment often while working simultaneously on multiple tasks.

  • High levels of discretion in handling confidential data

  • Strong MS Office skills

Preferred Additional Qualifications for Position

  • Significant NiSource business knowledge, experience, and acumen.

  • Management reporting experience
