Line Cook
The Inn & Spa at Cedar Falls is looking for a motivated cook to join our culinary team in a full-time or part-time capacity. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a welcoming environment that values quality, organization, and hospitality. Our open kitchen allows guests to see and appreciate your craft, so professionalism and pride in your work are a must. We’re seeking someone with strong prep and organizational skills who can support daily operations and contribute to a smooth and efficient service. A flexible schedule is required, including availability on weekends and holidays. We are seeking experienced line cooks with a background in fine casual dining, particularly those comfortable working a busy kitchen grill. If your experience is limited to fast food, this position is not the right fit. While prior experience is preferred, we’re happy to train the right candidate who shows potential and a strong work ethic. We offer competitive wages and a comprehensive benefits package that includes paid vacation, health insurance, discretionary bonuses, and a variety of perks such as complimentary beverages during shifts, discounted meals, access to spa services, gift shop discounts, free employee golf, and annual stays at our beautiful lodging. If you’re passionate about food, thrive in a team setting, and are ready to contribute to a positive kitchen culture—we’d love to hear from you! Responsibilities:
- Prepare and present food in an attractive, consistent, and timely manner.
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation, following all health, safety, and sanitation standards.
- Stock and organize food trucks, receive and put away incoming inventory, and ensure proper rotation of stock (FIFO method).
- Properly store, label, and date all food items; ensure leftovers are handled and stored appropriately at the end of each shift.
- Clean kitchen surfaces, equipment, and utensils after each shift to maintain a sanitary work environment.
- Take out trash and recycling as needed throughout and at the end of each shift.
- Communicate clearly and promptly with the manager regarding any issues, shortages, or concerns.
- Organized and efficient in prepping recipe components accurately and on time.
- Able to work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Capable of following recipes and preparation instructions consistently.
- Physically able to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs and navigate stairs throughout the shift.
- Basic knowledge of food handling and food safety practices.
- Willingness to learn, take direction, and adapt to new procedures or menu items.
- A genuine passion for food, quality, and the guest experience.
