LPN- Licensed Practical Nurse
Timehseet position - up to 12 hours per week; Monday - Thursday 8:15 am - 11:15 am
Salary Range - based on credentials/experience- $29 to $39 an hour
Duties will include being a one-on-one nurse for a specific student with medical fragility and severe special needs - assigned to Greeneview Preschool for the 2025-2026 school year

Reports to: Superintendent/Designee—District Supervisor
Part Time/Hourly
Qualifications:
- Valid license issued by the State Medical Board of Ohio.
- Meet with legal requirements relative to a criminal background check.
- Must possess CPR and AED certification and be able to demonstrate that knowledge.
- Maintain liability/malpractice individual insurance.
To provide access and services to meet the immediate medical needs of district student. This also includes planning/preparation for future needs when appropriate. To develop a positive relationship with student(s) and parents. The Medical/Teacher Assistant work with students with unique medical needs that require a higher level of medical knowledge. They will perform medical procedures not normally provided by the regular teacher assistant in order to maintain students in the least restrictive environment. They will also act as active members of the educational team in providing services to students.
Responsibilities and Essential Functions:
- LPN will be supervised under the school nurse and building principal.
- Work as closely as possible, with the guidelines of the school health program, with all administrators, teachers, psychologists, speech therapists, cooks, custodians, and bus drivers to provide a better community understanding between all school personnel.
- Should possess ability to communicate with and desire to communicate with children, young people and parents.
- Should possess ability to communicate with and desire to communicate with school administrators and teachers.
- Be able to evaluate and triage emergency needs of student.
- Meet the needs of the assigned student(s) in a positive and professional manner.
- Assist in, or conduct programs in the realm of health education whenever possible.
- Participate in in-service education programs at regular intervals, sponsored by the local health department, Ohio Department of Health, other agencies or programs.
- Maintain certification and current license.
- Abide by all School Districts policies.
- The LPN’s primary responsibility is to the individual student’s health and safety needs.
- Perform medical procedures that are necessary for the student who require medical assessment (i.e., blood glucose monitoring, catheterizations, gastrostomy tube care, tracheotomy care.)
- Monitor and assist student in daily routines and help student follow individual daily schedules.
- Document procedures and health status of student on daily log.
- Communicate changes in health status of student to District School Nurse and/or Teacher.
- Handle medical emergencies appropriately and classroom problems quickly and efficiently.
- Accompany, assist and monitor student as needed in all other areas of school program outside of classroom (i.e. mainstream classes, community, vocational, transportation to and from home as appropriate, field trips, etc.)
- Implement established classroom and individual behavior management plans.
- Participate in Transdisciplinary Team Meetings to assist one of the areas of communication, medical, and needs of student and contribute in the development of goals and strategies in these areas.
- Assumes other responsibilities within the scope of the job and any other duties assigned in extraordinary circumstances.
- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens.
- Conducts other duties as delegated by the Coordinator of Pupil Services or Building Principal.
- Demonstrates professionalism and maintains a positive work attitude.
- Effectively uses verbal, nonverbal, writing, and listening skills.
- Completes paperwork accurately. Verifies and correctly enters data.
- Organizes tasks and manages time effectively.
- Maintains an acceptable attendance record and is punctual.
- Employee shall remain free from any alcohol or non-prescribed controlled substance in the workplace throughout his/her employment in the center.
- Duties may require bending, crouching, kneeling, reaching, and standing.
- Duties may require lifting, carrying, and moving work-related supplies/equipment.
- Duties may require operating and/or riding in a vehicle.
- Potential for exposure to adverse weather conditions and temperature extremes.
- Potential for exposure to blood-borne pathogens and communicable diseases.
- Potential for adverse contact with aggressive, disruptive, and/or unruly individuals.
- Keep all assignment-related information strictly confidential
- Do not give include opinions about the student’s academic or social progress
- Refer questions about improvement, grades, etc. to the teacher.
- Never counsel, advise, or interject personal opinions into classroom instruction.
- Strive to maintain high professional standards by virtue of professional membership, certification, and ethic practices.
