The Dawes Arboretum is currently recruiting a Custodian to join our Facilities team. This is a full-time, non-exempt position, with a 40-hour per week schedule. Scheduled shifts may include evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The Custodian is responsible for ensuring the health and safety of our guests by keeping Arboretum buildings clean and sanitized. Schedule will be Sunday-Thursday, 11:00am-7:30pm.Some of the specific responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to:
· Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors; Cleaning and dusting furniture; Washing windows and walls.
· Cleaning restrooms daily, including sanitizing bathroom fixtures and refilling bathroom dispensers for toilet paper, hand soap, and paper towels.
· Emptying trash and recycling receptacles in Arboretum buildings and bathrooms.
· Assuring building safety during inclement weather by shoveling, salting, and providing slip protection on wet floors.
· Maintaining inventory of cleaning supplies.
· Initiating maintenance service requests and work orders.
· Assisting with set-up and tear-down for Arboretum events and internal meetings.
Qualifications:
· High School diploma or General Education degree (GED); or an equivalent combination of education, training, and education.
· Valid driver’s license and evidence of insurability.
· Ability to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen.
· Ability to work evening, weekend, and holiday hours as needed.
· Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
· Strong attention to detail.
· Proven ability to manage time and multiple priorities.
· Customer service mentality and ability to positively interact with staff, members, and guests.
· Previous experience in a janitorial or custodial role is a plus.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $15.00-$17.00.
