The Alumni Career Navigator provides career development support specifically designed for alumni within five years of graduation. This role focuses on guiding early-career professionals through career transitions, advancement opportunities, and continued professional growth. The Navigator delivers one-on-one career coaching and programming that addresses the unique challenges of navigating the workforce in the first five years after college. In partnership with Alumni Relations, employers, and academic units, the Navigator helps strengthen alumni engagement while supporting the lifelong success of graduates. Provide individualized coaching to recent alumni (0–5 years post-graduation) on career exploration, job search strategies, graduate school planning, and professional advancement. Support alumni in navigating early-career challenges such as improving job search documents, negotiating salary, developing and communicating leadership skills, or pivoting to a new role/industry. Facilitate use of career assessments and tools tailored to alumni in their first professional decade.
Design and lead programming that addresses early-career topics. Collaborate with Alumni Relations to create programs that connect young alumni with experienced professionals and current students. Work with the Parent and Family office to provide content and workshops on job searching for families with graduating seniors. Assist the Career Development Team with recruiting young alumni for career panels and networking events for current students.
Create targeted resources and digital content addressing the needs of alumni five years out, including toolkits, video modules, and guides. Contribute career-related content to newsletters, social media, and alumni communications. Ensure accessible, up-to-date content is available via the Career Center’s website and platforms.
Build relationships with alumni volunteers and employer partners to expand mentorship, networking, and career opportunities. Collaborate with colleges, departments, and regional alumni chapters to extend career programming and services. Serve as a resource for alumni who wish to give back by supporting fellow graduates’ career journeys. Assist with career treks to connect and create young alumni panels as part of the experience.
Track advising sessions, program participation, and outcomes to evaluate effectiveness. Gather feedback from alumni participants to inform future programming. Stay current on workforce trends and best practices in alumni career support. Support First Destination Survey collection efforts with outreach efforts for the Career Development Team.
Assist in the coordination of office-wide special events, programs, workshops, and career fairs, and other events as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and one year of experience or a Master's degree.
A Bachelor's degree is required by the start date. The experience may be obtained while obtaining a degree.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience
Master's degree and 2 years of experience
Experience in higher education, counseling, social work, human resources, or a related field
Career advising, coaching, or counseling experience with college students, alumni, or adult learners.
Strong presentation skills with ability to deliver effective programs.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong teamwork, communication, and project/program management skills
Ability to build effective relationships with students, staff, faculty and external stakeholders.
Able to fulfill some evening and weekend duties.
Knowledge of workforce trends and best practices for professional development in the first 10 years of employment.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of career development issues facing early-career professionals.
Knowledge of and ability to actively research various industries and trends.
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Experience supporting young alumni or early-career professionals.
