Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Physician Assistant (PA) to join our busy Plastic Surgery office on a full-time basis. This position will involve both clinical responsibilities in the office setting and assisting with surgical procedures. The ideal candidate will have experience in plastic and reconstructive surgery, excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Office Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and histories.
- Perform physical examinations, including pre-operative and post-operative evaluations.
- Assist in the development and implementation of patient care plans.
- Provide patient education regarding procedures, wound care, and recovery expectations.
- Administer injections, including Botox, fillers, and local anesthesia (if trained).
- Perform minor office-based procedures, such as suture removals, dressing changes, and wound care.
- Collaborate closely with the surgeon, nurses, and other healthcare providers to ensure quality care.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records in compliance with office protocols and regulations.
- Manage patient follow-ups, including phone calls and check-ins regarding post-operative recovery. Participate in after hours office call rotation
2. Surgical Assisting:
- Assist the plastic surgeon in the operating room during various surgical procedures (cosmetic and reconstructive surgeries).
- Prepare the surgical site, assist with sterile techniques, and provide instruments and supplies during surgery.
- Close incisions, place drains, and apply dressings as directed by the surgeon.
- Monitor patients during the surgical procedure, ensuring their safety and comfort.
- Participate in surgical team meetings and contribute to the development of surgical plans as required.
- Provide post-operative care instructions to patients and answer any questions regarding recovery.
Qualifications:
- Master's degree in Physician Assistant Studies from an accredited program.
- Current certification by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA).
- Valid state licensure to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Experience in plastic surgery or related field strongly preferred, but not required.
- Strong knowledge of plastic surgery procedures, anatomy, and surgical techniques.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with patients and the surgical team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make decisions independently.
- Ability to handle patient concerns with compassion, professionalism, and confidentiality.
- BLS/ACLS certification required (or must obtain upon hiring).
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods during surgery.
- Ability to lift and move up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to handle high-stress situations with a calm and collected demeanor.
Work Schedule:
- Full-time position.
