Psychiatric RN Job Details – Columbus, OH

• Position: Locum Tenens Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN)
• Location: Columbus, Ohio (43219) – Ohio nursing jobs
• Healthcare Setting: Behavioral Health Division, Maple Unit
• Shift: 12-hour nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Estimated Weekly Pay: $1840 - $1890
• Patient Population: Adult behavioral health
• Unit Size: 24 beds
• Patient Ratio: 8:1 (varies)
• Dress Code: Navy Blue Scrubs

Psychiatric Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in Ohio
• Minimum 2 years of psychiatric nursing or behavioral health RN experience
• Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) required
• BLS certification (American Heart Association preferred)
• Handle With Care (HWC) certification (within 30 days of employment)
• Valid driver’s license and favorable Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) if using personal or hospital vehicle
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Experience with patient assessment, Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scale, CIWA/COWS protocol, and medication reconciliation
• Ability to float to other behavioral health units as needed

Psychiatric RN Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care for adults with severe and persistent mental illness
• Conduct comprehensive patient assessments and implement individualized care plans
• Perform 15-minute patient safety checks, monitor for contraband, and assess for changes in patient condition
• Deliver line-of-sight or one-on-one care as directed by the healthcare team
• Document vital signs, collect laboratory specimens, and facilitate group patient education
• Demonstrate effective milieu management to promote a safe and therapeutic environment
• Accompany patients to off-unit activities and medical appointments
• Utilize clinical equipment such as blood pressure monitors, thermometers, pulse oximeters, and Pyxis medication systems
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Perform other nursing duties as assigned
