Job Duties
- Road System Design and Delivery - Collaborate during Solution Definition phase of the project and create two-dimensional computer-aided (CAD) files for Field Engineer 2 review. Support and participate in the site survey and point cloud gathering process; combine two and three-dimensional (point cloud) imagery to assist in determining space required for the automated guided vehicle (AGV) road system. Incorporate this data into a Road System proposal. Work at customer site to implement/refine/validate the actual Road System. Work directly with the Software Engineer to incorporate blocking, itinerary checks, decision points, order, and vehicle priorities.
- Navigation Design and Delivery - Support and participate in the onsite map gathering process; compile and validate the data to generate the initial site map. Work onsite to test/refine/validate the navigational map, adding any necessary infrastructure to ensure high navigational confidence is maintained throughout the facility. Review navigation map with Field Engineer II before implementing in a production environment.
- Solution Support - Participate in Project meetings and conference calls with internal resources. Assist in work required in preparation for all site visits. Analyze data to support inquiries and decisions being made by customers and other departments. Beyond technical service representatives (1st level troubleshooting), provide 2nd level troubleshooting assistance for other resources in the department and branch or dealer technical leads.
- System and Acceptance Testing - Support internal resources through system and acceptance testing process; understanding of the solution scope, working to align on testing process, participating in testing, identification & resolution of issues will be required during this phase. Work with all internal resources to document aligned consensus through both processes.
- Project Documentation - Document all work related to the design and development of any solution for Field Engineer 2 review.
Minimum Qualifications
- Less than 2 years' related experience
- Bachelor’s degree (Electrical, Mechanical, or Mechatronics Engineering)
- Non-degree considered if 12+ years of related experience along with a high school diploma or GED
- Extensive travel (over 20%)
- Extensive overnight stays (over 20%)
- Job requires employee to drive a lift truck
- Job requires employee to drive a personal vehicle to conduct company business < 20% per week (8 hours) and/or travel locally between company locations during scheduled workday
- Must be within one hour of a major airport
- Per 8-hour shift. Sit 4 hours and stand 4 hours. Typical office environment (low noise level, limited exposure hot/cold temperatures, dust, fumes, and vibrations). Regular interaction with others and performs a degree of independent work. Physical and mental demands are akin to the majority of office positions with prolonged periods of sitting and prolonged use of a computer/keyboard. Infrequent lifting, walking and climbing stairs. Occasional use of office equipment (copiers, printers, etc.).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in trouble shooting technical challenges.
- Professional communication skills. Possess AutoCAD and basic SQL database knowledge.
