Respiratory Therapist Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43205 (Ohio healthcare jobs)
• Facility Setting: Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU), Hospital
• Assignment Type: Locum tenens, Travel Registered Respiratory Therapist contract
• Start Date: October 13, 2025
• End Date: January 12, 2026
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 3x12-hour day shifts (07:00 - 19:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Weekend Coverage: Required, scheduled per unit needs
• On-Site Position

Registered Respiratory Therapist Qualifications

• Active Ohio RRT license (must be current at time of application)
• Minimum 2 years of recent Registered Respiratory Therapist experience; pediatric critical care experience preferred
• BLS and PALS certifications required
• Proficiency with Epic electronic medical records (EMR) system
• Experience with ventilators: Hamilton G5, T1 Travel Vent, or MRI ventilator (Hamilton preferred)
• Experience with Respironics Trilogy and V60 ventilators
• Two supervisory references required (at least one from a manager or supervisor)
• Willingness to float to CTICU, NICU, H8A (pulmonary), and general/ED units as needed
• Cannot have worked permanent at this facility within the past 2 years
• No local candidates (must reside more than 60 miles from facility)

Respiratory Therapist Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality respiratory care to neonates, infants, children, adolescents, and adults in the PICU
• Perform advanced respiratory therapies: aerosol therapy, BiPAP/CPAP, high flow nasal cannula, intubation assistance, and ventilator management
• Interpret arterial blood gases (ABGs) and adjust therapy as needed
• Manage long-term trach/vent patients and complex respiratory disease cases
• Float to other critical care and pulmonary units as required
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Utilize Epic EMR for accurate and timely documentation
• Maintain a team-oriented, patient-focused approach at all times
