Position Summary:
The Director of IT is responsible for the strategic and operational leadership of the organization's information technology function. This includes managing the overall IT department budget, providing oversight of internal systems, infrastructure, applications, and cybersecurity practices. The Director will directly oversee IT operations and infrastructure while managing a software development team through a Development Manager. The role also plays a critical role in supporting security assessments, risk mitigation, and ensuring compliance with IT and data security best practices.
Duties/Responsibilities:
IT Strategy & Leadership
- Develop and execute short- and long-term strategic plans for IT aligned with organizational goals.
- Lead the IT department operations and development functions.
- Actively collaborate with internal team (MTS) on reviews of infrastructure and service desk needs
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions to enhance productivity and scalability.
- Work closely with business stakeholders to develop solutions to identified productivity and scalability challenges for operations and sales.
- Work with business stakeholders to formalize plans for deliverable services and solutions to their customers and internal objective goals
- Lead discovery process with business leadership for potential innovative services, product development or integrations.
Budget & Vendor Management
- Develop, manage, and monitor the IT department's annual budget and assist with acquiring supporting data reports for proposed business unit investments.
- Track expenses, forecast future needs, and ensure cost-effective use of resources.
- Manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure service-level agreements (SLAs) are met.
Team Oversight
- Provide leadership and performance management for IT operations and support teams.
- Oversee the software development function through a Development Manager; ensure alignment between development priorities and business objectives.
- Foster a high-performance culture and support staff development and training.
- Provide oversight in the selection and monitoring of third-party development contractors and implementers. To mitigate over expenditure or project timeline extensions.
Cybersecurity & Risk Management
- Support IT security assessments and audits by coordinating with internal stakeholders and external partners. Providing review of audit, incident and compliance reports and requests.
- Work closely with security teams to identify, assess, and mitigate technology risks.
- Actively participate as a member of the GRC Committee and enterprise Incident Response team.
- Ensure compliance with applicable data security regulations, standards (e.g., NIST, HIPAA, ISO 27001), and best practices.
Systems & Infrastructure
- Oversee maintenance and modernization of core enterprise IT and software development infrastructure, network systems, and enterprise applications.
- Ensure system uptime, performance, and data availability meet business needs.
- Lead disaster recovery planning and IT business continuity efforts.
Education and Experience:
Required:
- 7+ years of progressively responsible experience in an IT analyst or development role, including project and/or team leadership
Preferred:
- Relevant industry certifications (e.g., CISSP, CISM, PMP)
- Experience supporting security audits or compliance programs (e.g., HITRUST, SOC 2, HIPAA, PCI-DSS)
- Experience in regulated industries or medium-to-large enterprises
