Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse – Night Shift | Travel RN – Columbus, OH

Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse (RN) – 13-week travel RN assignment in Columbus, OH 43210. Night shift role for experienced PCU RNs with telemetry and EPIC experience needed for an acute care ortho trauma unit.

Travel RN Job Details

• Location: Columbus, OH 43210 (Columbus nursing jobs / Ohio travel nurse)
• Assignment Length: 13 weeks (April 6, 2026 – July 6, 2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts per week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Surgical Ortho Trauma PCU (21 North)
• Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics with acute ortho trauma and PCU-level needs

PCU RN Job Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of recent Progressive Care Unit (PCU) or step-down RN experience
• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license — compact license accepted; Ohio state license required at submission
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications
• Experience with EPIC electronic medical record (EMR)
• Telemetry experience required
• Graduate of an ACEN or CCNE accredited nursing program
• Two professional references (one from a manager/director or formal leadership; second may be a charge RN)
• Flu vaccine required (medical exemptions only)
• Ability to float to different units within the organization as needed
• Previous charge experience and Level I trauma experience preferred

Primary Responsibilities (PCU RN / Progressive Care Nurse)

• Provide comprehensive nursing care to PCU patients, including diagnoses such as SBO, falls, lacerations, pneumonia, head injuries/TBI, trauma, ileus, fistula, and fractures
• Perform IV starts, medication administration, patient monitoring, and patient education
• Interpret and manage telemetry and dysrhythmias; manage cardiac drips and titration
• Care for patients with spinal cord injuries, substance withdrawal, skin grafts, tracheostomies, wounds, and surgical drains
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, and peripheral lines; administer blood products
• Utilize rapid response and code teams as needed
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including physical therapy, respiratory services, pharmacy, and social services
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation in EPIC
• Adhere to isolation precautions and PPE protocols
• Float to other units within the organization as required
