Job Description
Job Title: Project Manager – Commercial & Multifamily Construction
Location: Greater Cleveland / Northeast Ohio (On-site)
Pay: $85,000 – $110,000 Annually (Based on experience)
Job Type: Full-Time
Company Introduction
This position is with a Cleveland-area based general contractor and developer that delivers commercial and multifamily construction projects throughout Northeast Ohio. The company operates as a hands-on builder, self-performing work and managing projects directly rather than acting as an owners representative or consulting firm.
The organization focuses on ground-up commercial construction, tenant improvements, and large-scale multifamily developments. With a lean structure and strong local presence, the company emphasizes accountability, quality execution, and long-term relationships. Team members are given meaningful responsibility, autonomy, and the opportunity to grow as the business continues to scale.
Role Overview
The Project Manager will lead the planning, coordination, and execution of commercial and multifamily construction projects from preconstruction through closeout. This role carries full responsibility for project delivery, including budget management, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, and owner communication.
The Project Manager will work closely with field leadership to ensure projects are executed safely, on schedule, and within budget. This position requires a high level of independence, sound judgment, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving, hands-on construction environment.
Ideal candidates are builders who can confidently run projects end to end, take ownership of outcomes, and maintain strong control over cost, schedule, and stakeholder expectations.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead commercial and multifamily projects from preconstruction through final closeout
- Manage project budgets, cost controls, forecasting, and subcontractor buyouts
- Develop and maintain project schedules, milestone tracking, and look-ahead planning
- Coordinate subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams to ensure smooth execution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for owners, consultants, and project stakeholders
- Partner with superintendents to align field execution with project plans and schedules
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, and overall project documentation
- Monitor quality, safety, and compliance throughout all phases of construction
- Drive closeout activities including punch lists, turnover documentation, and final billing
- Support continuous improvement of project delivery processes
Required Background
- 5 to 10 years of total construction experience
- Minimum of 3 years in a Project Manager role, or a strong Assistant Project Manager ready to step up
- Experience managing commercial ground-up or tenant improvement projects in the $3M to $10M range
- Ground-up multifamily project experience in the $20M to $50M range is a strong plus
- Proven ability to manage projects independently with minimal oversight
- Experience using Procore or similar construction management software
- Strong communication skills and confidence managing subcontractors and owners
- Ability to work on-site across the Greater Cleveland and Northeast Ohio market
Compensation & Perks
- Base salary range of $85,000 to $110,000 depending on experience
- Potential project-based performance bonus
- Stable local project work with no extensive travel
- Lean team environment with high autonomy and visibility
- Long-term growth opportunities as the organization expands
