Service Technician I

The Service Technician I is responsible for loading and / or unloading drums and containers from trucks and processing and / or storing hazardous waste materials.

Essential Functions & Requirements:

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Loads and / or unloads drums and containers from trucks; processes and / or stores hazardous waste materials
• Weighs and breaks down large containers into smaller containers
• Completes inspection and mechanical placement of drums on conveyor and completes the manual placement of buckets from pallet to carriage
• Drives forklift to retrieve drums and containers from storage and operates computer and conveyor
• Transports / positions trailers and tankers for collection of slag and ash
• Pumps out containers of liquid
• Transfers material from tank to tank using a centrifugal pump
• Maintains a clean work area
• Completes other duties as assigned .

Education:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience:

• Previous experience operating a fork truck (preferred)
• HAZWOPER certificate or previous fire-fighting experience (preferred) .

Competencies:

• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
• Ability to pass a pre-employment physical, background check and drug screen
• Ability to wear personal protective equipment (PPE), including a respirator
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50lbs
• Ability to work all shifts, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed
• Ability to participate in Emergency Response and Fire Brigade
• Regular and predictable attendance to perform the functions and requirements of this role.
