Civil Engineer – Part-Time / Project-Based (Remote/Hybrid)

Location: Chesterland, OH (primarily remote)

Pay: $50–$65 per hour based on experience and education

Position Overview

Our client is seeking experienced Civil Engineers for part-time, project-based work that is ideal for someone looking for supplemental income or flexible consulting work. Most projects can be completed remotely; however, some assignments require a Northeast Ohio resident due to site familiarity, local systems, or in-person coordination. Other projects may be completed from anywhere in the U.S.

This role is best suited for a self-motivated professional who can work independently, manage their own workload, and communicate effectively without needing close supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Support a variety of public and municipal projects on an as-needed basis

• Provide engineering input related to:

  • Parks and recreation projects

  • Sewer and water infrastructure

  • Building services and public facilities

  • Schools and other public-sector projects

  • HVAC, plumbing, piping, and mechanical systems integration

• Review project plans, specifications, and technical documentation

• Collaborate with internal teams, contractors, and municipal partners as needed

• Provide troubleshooting, recommendations, and solutions for infrastructure and utility-related challenges

• Assist with projects related to water treatment plants, pumps, and CAS (Chemically Assisted Sedimentation) / Revet services where applicable

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years of experience working as an Engineer in the construction or civil engineering field (Engineering degree preferred but not required with sufficient experience)

• Strong knowledge of:

  • Sewer systems and water infrastructure

  • Public works, parks, and municipal projects

  • HVAC, plumbing, and piping systems

  • Water treatment plants and pump systems

• Experience working on public-sector or municipal projects is highly preferred

• Must be a self-starter who can manage projects independently

• Professional, positive attitude. This is imperative as client interfacing is required.

• Comfortable working remotely with periodic coordination as needed

Work Arrangement

• Part-time, project-based

• Mostly remote - You build your own schedule.

• Some projects may require local NE Ohio knowledge or occasional site visits
