Lee Health Heart Institute is seeking an Advanced Provider to assist with the growth and development of our Pulmonary Hypertension Program!
Lee Health is a nonprofit organization with more than 17,000 employees, 4,500 volunteers, and more than 1,200 employed primary care and specialty providers with multiple practice locations throughout Southwest Florida. The organization has four acute care hospitals and one specialty hospital that together house over 1,800 hospital beds.
Position Information:
This highly skilled and experienced Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant will have a passion for cardiovascular and pulmonary vascular medicine and caring for patients with complex pulmonary hypertension in both the inpatient and outpatient settings. In collaboration with and under the leadership of our Pulmonary Hypertension Program Director, this Advanced Provider will play an integral role in the evaluation, treatment, and longitudinal management of patients with pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), and other forms of pulmonary hypertension.
This Advanced Provider will primarily practice at HealthPark Medical Center but may be required to support other Lee Health locations based on organizational needs and program growth. Responsibilities include management of advanced pulmonary hypertension therapies, coordination of multidisciplinary care, patient education, and close monitoring of patients receiving complex medication regimens, including parenteral and oral pulmonary vasodilator therapies. Weekend coverage and call responsibilities may be required based on program needs.
Pulmonary Hypertension Program Highlights:
The Pulmonary Hypertension Program at Lee Health is currently under development and is estimated to provide comprehensive, patient-centered care for individuals with pulmonary vascular disease. The multidisciplinary team would focus on improving quality of life, functional status, and clinical outcomes through specialized evaluation, advanced therapies, and coordinated care.
Specialized services include:
- Comprehensive evaluation and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH), chronic thromboembolic pulmonary hypertension (CTEPH), and other forms of pulmonary hypertension
- Management and monitoring of advanced pulmonary vasodilator therapies, including prostacyclin infusions, oral therapies, and inhaled treatments
- Collaboration with cardiology, pulmonology, advanced heart failure, radiology, and cardiothoracic surgery specialists
- Diagnostic evaluation including right heart catheterization interpretation, echocardiography review, and cardiopulmonary exercise testing
- Coordination of care with regional pulmonary thromboendarterectomy (PTE) and lung transplantation centers when appropriate
- Remote monitoring, medication management, and patient education initiatives
- Participation in clinical research and quality improvement initiatives
- End-of-life planning and supportive care discussions when indicated
Qualifications :
- Certified Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care pathway preferred) or Physician Assistant
- Active, unrestricted Florida license, or ability to obtain prior to start date
- Current BLS and ACLS certification through the American Heart Association
- Experience managing patients with pulmonary hypertension is strongly preferred
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment
- Strong communication, patient education, and care coordination skills
- Commitment to delivering high-quality, evidence-based patient care
- Specialty certification relevant to cardiology, pulmonology, or pulmonary hypertension is preferred but not required

- Educate patients and caregivers on parenteral prostacyclin therapy, including pump management, line care, and adverse effect recognition
Staff Education
- Provide ongoing education to ICU and ED staff on prostacyclin infusions, monitoring responsibilities, and current best practice standards.
