Overview:

The work of Stationary Engineers is varied and complex. Responsible for the operation, maintenance, renovation and repair of boiler systems, chillers and all other mechanical systems in a facility. Stationary Engineers perform work on boilers, chillers and steam systems; heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems; building automations systems; diesel engines, turbines, generators; pumps, piping and compressed gas systems; refrigeration and electrical systems and numerous other physical plant functions. Stationary Engineers start up, regulate, repair and shut down equipment. Ensure that equipment operates safely and economically and within established limits by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls. Manually control equipment and make the necessary adjustments. Use hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from a complete overhaul to replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings. Record relevant events and facts concerning operation and maintenance in an equipment log. Routinely check safety devices, identifying and correcting any trouble that develops. Stationary Engineers also perform routine maintenance, such as repairing and replacing pumps, motors and other operating equipment, lubricating moving parts, replacing filters, and removing soot and corrosion that can reduce operating efficiency, test and chemically treat hydronic systems to prevent corrosion and harmful deposits.

Responsibilities:

• Applies safety standards at all times and maintain a clean and safe work environment
• Maintain daily logs of operation, maintenance records, safety logs and other documentation as required
• Clean, lubricate, repair and or replace plant equipment as required
• Perform preventative maintenance on boiler, chiller and plant equipment
• Perform chemical analysis and adjust chemical balances as required
• Perform routine inspections including visual inspections of computer equipment, switches, valves, gauges, alarms, safety devices and meters and ensure that equipment is operating efficiently and safely.
• Troubleshoot and take appropriate action to maintain reliable equipment and system operation
• Operate and manipulate DDC control systems as it is related to Chillers Boilers and emergency power
• Other duties as assigned throughout any of the Beebe Campuses

Qualifications:

Experience: 3 years' experience

Knowledge of wording used in boiler room terminology. Continue to learn from different sources (webinars, books, and conventions) and work in the plant with proper supervision.
Black Seal for High pressure Boilers from any state or an in-house competency test needed to be passed after 3 to 6 months. Prove safe working habits and the consent of the Chief Engineer.
