AOI Programmer
The Automated Optical Inspection (AOI) Programmer is responsible for setting up, programming, and calibrating AOI machines to inspect circuit boards, assemblies, and components. This role is responsible for testing and troubleshooting equipment, maintaining machine performance, and ensuring alignment with customer specifications. This role is critical for ensuring that the final product meets quality standards before shipment, contributing directly to the reliability and safety of electronic products.

Key Responsibilities:
- AOI Machine Setup and Programming:
- Program and configure AOI machines to inspect circuit boards, assemblies, and components according to customer specifications.
- Set up inspection parameters such as tolerances, focus, lighting, and angle for optimal defect detection.
- Modify or update machine programs to improve inspection accuracy or adapt to new board designs.
- Testing and Calibration:
- Perform initial tests on newly programmed boards to verify inspection results and make adjustments as needed.
- Calibrate AOI systems regularly to maintain accuracy and reliability.
- Inspect PCB per IPC-610 standard and internal quality standards.
- Troubleshooting and Maintenance:
- Troubleshoot and resolve any issues with the AOI equipment, such as errors in detection, calibration, or functionality.
- Perform routine maintenance and keep records of machine performance and downtime.
- Collaboration with Engineering Teams:
- Work closely with PCB design engineers, production teams, and quality control to ensure that the AOI systems are properly aligned with the production process.
- Provide feedback to engineering teams on design improvements to reduce false rejects or improve detection capabilities.
- Data Analysis and Reporting:
- Analyze inspection data and generate reports on the quality and performance of the PCBs or assemblies.
- Identify trends or recurring issues and report findings to relevant departments.
- Training and Support:
- Train production staff and technicians on the operation of AOI equipment and inspection software.
- Offer technical support and troubleshooting assistance to operators as needed.
- Continuous Improvement:
- Stay up to date on the latest AOI technologies, software updates, and industry standards.
- Implement best practices to improve the efficiency and accuracy of automated optical inspection processes.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor's Degree or Certification in Electronics, Electrical Engineering or related field
- Previous experience with AOI systems and automated inspection processes is highly preferred
- Or equivalent combination of education and experience.
REQUIRED SKILLS / ABILITIES
- Proficiency in programming and configuring AOI systems (e.g., Omron, Koh Young, or other AOI machines).
- Strong knowledge of electronic component identification, PCB designs, and assembly processes.
- Familiarity with inspection software and defect analysis tools.
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues related to inspection machines and processes.
- Precision and attention to detail are crucial for ensuring the highest inspection standards.
- Experience with machine vision systems and optical inspection software is preferred.
- Knowledge of other quality control methods and processes used in electronics manufacturing is preferred.
- Understanding of industry standards such as IPC-A-610 for electronic assembly is preferred.
- Familiarity with ISO9001 quality requirements.
- Familiarity with cleanliness requirements.
- Willing to travel to Europe for training.
