Your impact

At Jacobs, we’re helping communities thrive by delivering resilient and sustainable water infrastructure solutions.

We’re seeking a Site/Civil Discipline Lead to support our growing Water Infrastructure portfolio, delivering complex municipal and industrial projects through design‑build and other alternative project delivery models. In this role, you’ll lead high‑performing site civil engineering teams while partnering closely with clients, project managers, and multidisciplinary stakeholders to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions

Your Impact:

As a Site/Civil Discipline Lead, you will provide technical leadership and oversight for civil and site engineering aspects of water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You’ll guide teams responsible for grading, drainage, utilities, roadways, and site development while collaborating with clients, project managers, contractors, and internal disciplines to deliver integrated and constructible designs.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical & Project Leadership

  • Serve as the Site/Civil Discipline Lead for water and wastewater infrastructure projects, including treatment plants, pumping stations, reservoirs, and pipeline facilities.
  • Lead the development and review of site layout, roadway, site development, grading, drainage, utility coordination, and erosion and sediment control designs.
  • Provide technical oversight and quality assurance of drawings, calculations, specifications, and cost estimates.
  • Coordinate closely with structural, electrical, process, mechanical, and I&C disciplines to ensure fully integrated site solutions.
  • Support permitting efforts and coordinate with regulatory agencies and utility providers as required.

  • Support constructability reviews, deliver typical structural discipline services during construction, and field coordination during construction.

Design‑Build & Delivery Excellence

  • Play a key role on design‑build projects, supporting collaborative and accelerated delivery schedules.
  • Contribute to pursuit activities, including technical proposals, scope development, schedules, and client interviews.
  • Partner with construction teams and partners to lead the site/civil design discipline and evaluate constructability, sequencing, and site access considerations.
  • Identify and proactively manage risks related to site constraints, utilities, permitting, and construction impacts.

People & Discipline Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop our teams of supporting site/civil engineers, designers, and EITs across multiple projects.
  • Support workforce planning, staff utilization, performance feedback, and professional development within the civil discipline.
  • Promote Jacobs’ culture of safety, quality, inclusion, and ethical practice.
  • Advance discipline best practices, standard details, and design tools.

Client & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Interface directly with internal and external clients, acting as a trusted site/civil engineering advisor.
  • Participate in client meetings, technical workshops, coordination sessions, and project reviews. Ability to travel approximately 10% of time to client and project sites in the Midwest and Northeast regions.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders including municipalities, utilities, regulatory agencies, and construction partners.
  • Support business development efforts by strengthening client relationships and identifying future opportunities.

Here's what you'll need

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • 10+ years of progressive site/civil engineering experience, with a strong focus on water and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Demonstrated experience leading site/civil scope on large, complex water or wastewater infrastructure projects (design‑build or alternative delivery projects preferred).
  • Proven ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver high‑quality, constructible designs.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working directly with clients and stakeholders.

Ideally, you'll also have

  • Knowledge of local, state, and federal design criteria and permitting processes.
  • Experience supporting proposals, pursuits, and client interviews.
  • Passion for mentoring and developing engineering talent.
  • Familiarity with sustainable site design and resilient infrastructure principles.
