POSITION SUMMARY:
Borden Dairy is seeking a consistent and efficient professional to join our team as a Filler Operator Relief. In this dynamic role, you will run and maintain fillers in a continuous flow vat to process milk, cream, and other dairy products, following specific methods and formulas. As a Filler Operator, you will be responsible for quality, food safety and product specifications.
This position will be covering for vacations, breaks and other scheduling needs. This position will work 4 different 10-hour shifts in the work week with start times as follows; 4:00am, 4:45am, 11:30am and 5:00pm.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Clean, set-up, operate and monitor filler equipment
- Complete all required quality checks and documentation
- Collect required samples needed for Quality Assurance testing
- Monitor weights, seals, caps, and general packaging of product
- Make adjustments to filler timing and filling; check vat as needed
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve basic to moderate operating difficulties
- Perform filler equipment and filler line changeovers for next run safely
- Working knowledge with wrapper operations; watch for jams and effectively thread product wrap
- Complete cleaning checklist once line has completed run
- Follow all sanitation and quality policies and procedures, and report any deficiencies
- Ensure that the proper packaging materials are used for each product being produced
- Responsible for adhering to food safety and quality system requirements by committing to meet all pertinent regulatory, customer and SQF requirements
- Assist in identifying opportunities to improve processes
- Operate casing and stacking equipment
- Provides vacation coverage
- Fills in where needed
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or, equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience analyzing and troubleshooting process data and equipment performance data to improve quality and throughput
- Basic math competency required to perform calculations
- Overtime and working on holidays is often required
- Experience within the food and beverage industry preferred
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to stand, walk, kneel, and bend required for virtually the entire shift. Occasionally required to climb or balance. Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move more than 75 pounds
- Must be able to work in a wet environment
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals
- Exposure to nut allergens
