POSITION SUMMARY
We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Senior Accountant to join our Finance & Accounting team. This position plays a critical role in maintaining the integrity of our financial records through the preparation of month-end workpapers, financial reporting, and support of accounts payable functions. The role also encompasses key manufacturing accounting responsibilities including variance analysis, product costing, and inventory valuation. The ideal candidate brings 5–10 years of accounting experience, a strong foundation in GAAP, and a proactive, team-first approach to their work. Experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounts Payable & Journal Entries
• Assist with accounts payable transactions, including invoice coding, approval routing, and payment processing
• Prepare and post journal entries with appropriate supporting documentation
• Maintain vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries as needed
• Ensure AP transactions comply with company policies and internal controls
Month-End Close & Workpapers
• Prepare and maintain organized month-end workpapers to support the financial close process
• Reconcile balance sheet accounts, ensuring accuracy and proper documentation
• Record and review accruals, prepaid expenses, and other month-end adjusting entries
• Identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner, escalating issues as appropriate
Financial Reporting
• Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
• Support variance analysis and commentary on financial results versus budget and prior periods
• Prepare schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external reporting
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting processes and templates
Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration
• Partner with other departments to gather financial data and support business needs
• Willingly assist with special projects, audits, and other accounting functions as assigned
• Proactively ask questions and seek guidance to ensure accuracy and alignment with best practices
• Contribute to a positive, communicative team environment within the accounting function
Manufacturing Accounting
• Collaborate with operations, production, and supply chain teams to ensure accurate cost capture and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency
• Assist with periodic physical inventory counts and cycle counts; reconcile count results to the general ledger and investigate discrepancies
• Perform inventory valuation and reconciliation, ensuring accurate costing of on-hand inventory across all production stages in accordance with GAAP
• Perform variance analysis comparing actual costs to standard costs, including material, labor, and overhead variances; investigate and explain significant variances to management
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting required; CPA or CPA candidate a plus
Experience
• 5–10 years of progressive accounting experience in a corporate or public accounting environment
• Demonstrated experience with month-end close, financial reporting, and accounts payable processes
• Hands-on experience preparing and reviewing journal entries and account reconciliations
Skills & Competencies
• Solid understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting principles
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and financial modeling; comfortable building and working within complex spreadsheets
• Comfortable working within an ERP environment; experience with systems such as SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar platforms preferred
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all deliverables
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable asking clarifying questions
• Highly collaborative; willing to support team members and assist across business functions
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Self-starter with a continuous improvement mindset
WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position is based in an office environment with standard business hours. Some flexibility may be required during peak periods such as month-end close and year-end audit. Hybrid work arrangements may be available depending on business needs.
