Progressive Care LPN Job Details

• Location: Middletown, Ohio (zip 45005) – Greater Dayton/Cincinnati area
• Unit: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) / Step Down
• Job Type: Locum Tenens, Travel Nursing Contract
• Contract Length: 13 weeks (Start: 10/6/2025 – End: 1/5/2026)
• Shift: Night shift, 4x12-hour shifts (19:00 – 07:30); 36 or 48 hours/week options
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1170-$1200
• Patient Population: Adults and Geriatrics
• Orientation: 24 hours
• Weekend/Holiday Coverage: Every other weekend and holiday required
• Floating: Required within specialty cluster and to nearby campuses

LPN Qualifications and Requirements

• Active Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license in any state (must obtain Ohio LPN license before start date)
• Minimum 1 year of recent LPN experience in acute care, step-down, or progressive care unit
• Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Successful completion of online EKG/telemetry competency assessment prior to assignment
• Proficiency with Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting system (required)
• Preferred: Previous charge nurse experience
• Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions accepted)
• COVID-19 vaccine not required

LPN Responsibilities – Progressive Care Unit

• Deliver direct patient care to adults and geriatric patients with diagnoses including COPD, CHF, stroke, renal failure, trauma, TIA, seizures, myocardial infarction (MI), and post-surgical telemetry monitoring
• Monitor and interpret cardiac telemetry, manage dysrhythmias, and administer cardiac drips
• Administer medications, manage IVs, perform wound care, and provide tracheostomy management
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, social services)
• Float to other units as needed, including High Risk Respiratory Unit/COVID and nearby hospital campuses
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using Epic EHR system
• Participate in rapid response/code teams and assist with special procedures (chest tube management, Bipap/Cpap therapy, peritoneal dialysis, cardiac interventions)
