What You’ll Do:

This position is responsible for:
Procures necessary supplies, materials & equipment for operation of the Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory and Animal Health Regulatory Staff
Under general supervision determines coding for requisitions and procurement card transactions, processes requisitions & purchase orders
Prepares bid specifications & maintains contacts with vendors
Uses established division & state rules, regulations & procedures to request approval for expenditures
Processes submitted requisitions & purchase orders
Contacts vendors
Compares price quotes & computes percentage discounts
Writes specifications (e.g., quantity, grade or quality, delivery)
Assures accuracy of purchase orders, printing orders, requisitions & encumbrances & ensures compliance with all established procedures (e.g., Section 3517.13(I)(J) of Revised Code, OhioBuys, minority vendor MBE program)
Receives ordered supplies & delivers supplies to appropriate department
Reconciles packing slip & delivered product with purchase order, invoice, & internal purchasing records to ensure product types and quantities match requests
Operates personal computer & related software to create reports (PREP, Excel, Order App, OAKS BI reporting) submissions (OAKS FIN), receipt of approvals & maintains files: enters purchase order data into OhioBuys
Researches &/or obtains approvals for purchasing
Maintains records of business transactions & product inventories
Reports data as required
Maintains manual &/or computerized procurement records (e.g., items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, & tracking of expenditures against blank purchase orders.)
Performs other duties as assigned
Clerical tasks (e.g., sends out mail, receives & distributes mail, receives & logs in materials & information, orders supplies, maintains office filing system & searches files for retrieval of material
Provides back-up to other Animal Health office staff as required
Provides backup for front desk coverage when needed
Attends and participates in meetings
This position shall be filled in accordance with the provisions of the OCSEA Collective Bargaining Agreement. ODA bargaining unit members have selection rights before non-bargaining unit members. Maternity Benefits
- Expanded maternity health care benefits available to state employees enrolled in the Ohio Med PPO and Ohio Med NN (narrow network) medical plan options. Several prenatal, childbirth, and post-childbirth services are provided at no out-of-pocket cost to employees utilizing network providers.
- Examples of services now covered by network providers at 100% include:
o Prenatal care, including physician visits and examinations.
o Home health care services designated as maternity care (for expectant members on bed rest).
o Inpatient claims for all types of delivery.
o Inpatient NICU claims, from birth through discharge.
o Postpartum care, including office visits for follow-up, and procedures/treatments directly related to maternity.
- Medications prescribed for both antepartum and postpartum conditions (e.g., morning sickness, postpartum depression). Medical services provided by non-network providers will be processed at the applicable coinsurance, deductible, and out-of-pocket limits.
- Prescription drugs that are directly related to maternity care are covered with no copay. The State of Ohio has collaborated with the prescription drug third-party administrator (OptumRx) to provide a list of covered medications that can be approved for zero copay via prior authorization from providers.

18 months experience or 18 months training in accounting &/or finance to include a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- Or completion of high school technical program in accounting; 6 months experience or 6 months training in accounting or finance to include a basic level of experience in spreadsheet software.
- Or completion of associate core program in business administration, accounting, finance or related field.
- Or equivalent of Minimum Class Qualifications for Employment noted above.
