Job Title: Database Administrator (DBA)
Job Summary
The Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for managing, maintaining, and optimizing enterprise database environments to ensure data integrity, availability, security, and performance. This role supports critical IT operations, system integrations, and change activities while partnering with infrastructure, security, and application teams. Must be local to the Barberton, OH area.
Key Responsibilities
- Administer, maintain, and support enterprise database environments
- Support VersionE environments (versions 2019–2022) , including upgrades, maintenance, and troubleshooting
- Ensure data accuracy, integrity, and consistency across systems
- Design and maintain database structures, schemas, and relationships
- Support IT change activities by validating database impacts and dependencies
- Monitor database performance and implement tuning and optimization strategies
- Manage data imports, integrations, and automated processes
- Troubleshoot database-related issues and resolve data discrepancies
- Implement and manage backup, recovery, and disaster recovery procedures
- Enforce database security controls and access management
- Support compliance initiatives (SOX, PCI, ITIL-aligned processes)
- Create documentation, runbooks, and operational procedures
- Collaborate with infrastructure, application, and security teams
- Provide reporting and operational metrics as needed
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Database Administrator
- Hands-on experience supporting VersionE (2019–2022)
- Strong experience with relational databases (SQL Server, Oracle, or similar)
- Advanced SQL skills for querying, reporting, and troubleshooting
- Experience supporting enterprise IT environments
- Experience with backup, recovery, and performance tuning
- Understanding of database security and access controls
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting enterprise service or ITSM environments
- Familiarity with cloud or virtualized platforms (Azure, AWS, VMware)
- Scripting experience (PowerShell, Python, or similar)
- Experience in regulated environments (PCI, SOX, HIPAA)
- ITIL or database-related certifications
Soft Skills
- Strong attention to detail and data accuracy
- Clear communication and documentation skills
- Ability to work cross-functionally with technical and non-technical teams
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
