Early Childhood Assistant Teacher - Before/After School Age Program
Summary The Assistant Teacher supports the Lead Teacher by helping to create a caring and safe environment for school age children in Kindergarten - 5th grade. and by assisting in creating fun, meaningful experiences. S/he must be able to communicate, listen and work well with children and adults. Assistant teachers are responsible for working cooperatively with the Lead Teacher to implement developmentally appropriate activities based on the interests and needs of the children under her care. Duties
- · Assisting with morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up routines
- ·Supervising children in activities such as games, crafts, and outdoor play
- ·Helping with snacks and maintaining a clean, safe environment
- ·Creating a positive, engaging, and inclusive atmosphere·
- Assist in the implementation of curriculum activities and encourage participation by children.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and daily reports.
- Encourage self-help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition to/from home, center and school
- Follow all program policies and state licensing regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure increased knowledge and skills
- ·Experience working with school-age children preferred

- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Interest in and understanding of the school age child's development.
- Sense of initiative, strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
- Must meet mandatory state licensing requirements including background check and health screening
- Experience in quality-rated (SUTQ) early care and education programs
- Training and/or coursework in early childhood education
- First Aid/CPR Certification
- Vacation/medical/personal leave
