The Akron Board of Education announces an anticipated opening for an English Language Arts Teacher, High Schoo l 7-12, Job Code 006, TS 380 (190 Days). Starting Salary $48,967.10. Collective Bargaining Unit AEA. This is a State Teachers Retirement System position.

- Ohio 7-12 licensure in English/Language Arts.
Position Description:
- Assists all students to meet or exceed 21st century knowledge and skills, including state academic achievement standards;Good Morning Ms. Neusser,
- This is a second reminder that your FBI background check expires in the month of May.
- Per Ohio Revised Code, school employees must renew their background check every five (5) years, and CCAA van drivers every six (6) years. You are required to complete your FBI background no later than noon on Thursday, April 30, 2026.

- Please bring a valid driver's license or Ohio identification card. The cost of the FBI background check is $26.00, which can be paid by credit/debit card or cash (if paying by cash please have the exact amount). Any replaced badges will be collected and destroyed.

- Articulates what students should know and be able to do, while working to help students achieve;
- Guides the learning process toward the achievement of curriculum goals and, in harmony with the goals, establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects to communicate these objectives to students;
- Plans and delivers learning experiences that advance the learning of each individual student; shows written evidence of preparation upon request of immediate supervisor;
- Designs authentic learning experiences for students to learn core knowledge, 21st century skills and literacies, through, but not limited to, collaboration, problembased learning and inquiry;
- Partners with business and community organizations to create authentic learning experiences;
- Organizes and plans for learning based upon knowledge of subject matter, students, the community, and curriculum goals;
- Assists in the planning for intervention and remediation in the areas of math, science and literacy for all students who have not mastered the content standards and implement appropriately;
- Develops and implements differentiated instructional strategies for each student's academic growth;
- Uses technology to develop student content knowledge and skills so students know how to learn, think critically, solve problems, use information, communicate, innovate, create and collaborate;
- Proficient in using technology as an instructional and management tool;
- Uses continuous, authentic and appropriate assessment and evaluation measures that are evidence-based and uses them to improve instruction and student learning and for feedback, including progress reports.
- Creates a classroom environment that incorporates Partners' staff members as an ongoing presence and is conducive to learning, fosters engagement, self-motivation, student self-direction and positive social interaction;
- Provides learning opportunities that supports the intellectual, social, emotional and physical development of the students;
- Works closely with students and parents to guide students through school and future education and career choices;
- Models the teaching expectations that students are to accomplish;
- Contributes to and participates in ongoing professional development, including working with colleagues in a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model;
- Maintains and improves professional competence;
- Uses evidence-based and best practices to inform instruction and to work with colleagues;
- Works collaboratively to improve instruction and learning while sharing the responsibility for outcomes with school and community;
- Uses a variety of communication methods and technologies to interact with students, parents and staff;
- Maximizes opportunities for student success by creating positive working relationships with students;
- Maintains accurate, complete and correct records as required by law, district policy and administrative regulations;
- Develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedures and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner;
- Attends staff meetings and serve on staff committees as required;
- Works closely with the building principal to collaboratively lead the school through a shared decision-making process;
- Uses electronic tools for grading, both in New Tech applications and district applications;
- Reports to and carries out any other responsibilities as assigned by the building principal.
