Jr Accountant

Job Description

A client headquartered in Cincinnati is looking for a Jr Accountant to join their team for a direct hire opportunity. The Entry Level Accountant supports the Finance & Accounting team by assisting with general ledger activities, account reconciliations, and monthly close processes. This role is ideal for a recent accounting graduate or early-career professional looking to build a strong foundation in corporate accounting within a large, operationally complex organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes, including preparing journal entries and accruals

• Perform general ledger account reconciliations and investigate variances

• Support the preparation and maintenance of financial statements, schedules, and supporting documentation

• Assist in maintaining accurate records related to profit and loss, assets, liabilities, and expenses

• Help prepare internal financial reports and analysis for management review

• Collaborate with regional finance teams and other departments to ensure accurate financial data across multiple locations

• Support audit requests by preparing documentation and schedules

• Identify opportunities for process improvement and increased efficiency within accounting operations

• Maintain compliance with GAAP and internal accounting policies

Skills and Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting

• 0-2 years of accounting experience (internship, co-op, or entry-level role)

• Basic understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic formulas, lookups, pivot tables)

Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Transportation or waste management industry experience
