About this opportunity:

Join Cenovus Energy as the Senior Specialist, Downstream Turnaround (TAR), serving as the subject matter expert in Turnaround practices across its downstream operations. In this role, you will bring deep expertise in refining operations, TAR execution, and associated work processes. You will lead the development and implementation of standardized TAR processes, ensuring alignment with Cenovus’ business goals and driving performance toward operational excellence. Preference given to individuals who currently reside in or can relocate to the Ohio area.

What you’ll do:

  • Lead the development and implementation of standardized Turnaround (TAR) processes across downstream assets, aligned with Cenovus' Reliability Model and long-term business goals
  • Collaborate with site TAR leaders and central functions to drive consistent application of best practices, process improvements, and cross-site synergies
  • Establish and lead the Downstream TAR Leaders Network to promote knowledge sharing, process standardization, and strategic alignment
  • Conduct TAR readiness reviews, identify risks early, and ensure delivery of safe, efficient, and competitive turnaround events
  • Mentor and coach TAR leaders to strengthen decision-making, leadership, and technical capabilities in turnaround execution
  • Track performance using critical metrics and drive continuous improvement through lessons learned, change management, and talent development initiatives


Who you are:

  • Legally authorized to work in the US
  • 16+ years of experience in downstream refining, with a proven track record of delivering results
  • 10+ years of expertise specifically in turnaround operations and strategy
  • Demonstrated success in leading transformational change and influencing across sophisticated, matrixed organizations
  • Deep understanding of TAR fundamentals, risk management, and performance optimization
  • Strong leadership, communication, and partner engagement skills
