• Schedule: Nights, 3 shifts/week , 12-hour shifts (19:00–07:30)
• Hours per Week: 36
• Unit: Surgical Oncology PCU/Med-Surg — mixed acuity PCU/Med-Surg (36-bed unit )
• Patient Population: Adults & Geriatrics
• Staffing Ratio Goal: 1:4 (may flex to 1:5 based on needs)
• Scheduling: Self-scheduling requests ; final schedule is balanced and posted by the unit
• Floating: May float to other acute care Oncology units
• Orientation: 72 hours

PCU RN Job Requirements

• Experience: 2 years of Registered Nurse (RN) experience required, including recent PCU/Stepdown experience (must meet specialty experience requirements within the last 3 years)
• License: Active Ohio RN license or compact RN license in hand at time of submission
• Certifications (Required): BLS , ACLS , NIHSS
• Certification (Preferred): ONS Chemotherapy
• Charting: Charting system experience required; charting system used is Epic
• References: Two professional references required (at least one from a manager/director or formal leader; no coworker-only references)
• Education: Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program

Responsibilities (Mixed Acuity PCU/Med-Surg – Surgical Oncology)

• Provide RN care for adult and geriatric surgical oncology patients in a mixed-acuity PCU/Med-Surg environment
• Monitor and interpret telemetry and cardiac rhythms, including dysrhythmia interpretation/management as applicable to unit practice
• Manage therapies including insulin and heparin drips , IV antibiotics , blood transfusions , and chemotherapy (as trained/credentialed)
• Recognize and respond to oncologic emergencies, including cytokine release syndrome , with appropriate escalation
• Provide care for patients requiring BiPAP/CPAP support, tracheostomy care, and chest tube management
• Document patient care in the Epic electronic medical record per facility standards
