Store Designer 1
- Create schematic design studies: feasibility/test fits, fixture plans, storefront elevations, and supporting diagrams balancing merchandising, operations, guest experience, and life safety requirements. Accountable for advocating for design intent throughout design, architecture and construction phases.
- Perform QAQC reviews of consultant construction documents and shop drawings (with supervision) for alignment with prototype and design intent; capture findings and escalate discrepancies to the Design Manager for direction. (support from Senior Designers)
- Prepare design presentations and rendering packages for internal reviews, stakeholders, and landlord/authority needs.
- Apply brand prototype standards, tenant criteria, and code/ADA guidelines; flag conflicts and propose solutions.
- Travel & site logistics: travel as required to support construction QC & punch and/or store opening process. Prepare summary of insights and present back to leadership.
- Manage up with no surprises communication: socialize issues early and propose multiple solution paths with pros/cons and impacts to schedule, cost, and brand. Include context for solutions, such as annotated markups, code/criteria references, and vendor notes so leadership can make a timely decision.
- Relay design updates, decisions, and revisions to cross functional partners (Real Estate, Construction, VM/Merch, Store Ops, Procurement) and external A/E consultants; maintain crisp consistent follow through in all communications.
- Proactively maintain project controls: help maintain team project trackers/logs across multiple platforms.
- Admin & compliance: support project billing tasks; respond to permit and landlord responses with Design/Construction/AOR; compile close out of project materials and archive to global systems.
- Enable the team: support maintenance of templates/standards and onboarding materials; assist with tool access.
- Actively research design trends and analyze retail center design standards to inform projects.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by updating redlines into prototypes, refining CAD blocks in partnership with Design Manager(s)
- Self advocate for your growth; partner with your manager on a clear development plan; pursue stretch assignments aligned to business priorities to develop skills and demonstrate skills needed for career development.
- 2-5 years of professional experience or internship equivalency in Architecture/Interior Design (retail or adjacent strongly preferred).
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Cloud (InDesign/Illustrator/Photoshop), and Microsoft 365. Exposure to Excel, Bluebeam, Sketchup, and Enscape
- Demonstrated ability to prepare project trackers/logs, produce concise meeting notes & decision pre reads, and organize ones work for timely completion.
- Familiarity with building/ADA code fundamentals and constructability.
- Strong visual, written, and verbal communication; ability to sketch to communicate ideas quickly.
- Proven adaptability, receptiveness to feedback, and collaborative approach across diverse communication styles.
- Occasional routine travel for site walks, critical reviews and quarterly team meetings
- Experience preparing landlord documentation packets.
- Basic finance literacy (POs, invoice coding, accruals, change order/VE logging).
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Architecture, Interior Design, or related field
