Business Analyst

Job Description

An employer is seeking a contract Business Analyst to join a project supporting their Credit System Rewrite.

· Gather, analyze, document, and validate the functionality of existing applications/functions within the business and identify opportunities for enhancements.

· Facilitate meetings, workshops, and discussions with business stakeholders and SMEs.

· Work with Product Owner(s) and UX Designer(s) to create process maps, workflow diagrams, and supporting documentation as needed.

· Perform data analysis to support decision-making and solution design, if necessary.

· Support testing activities including test case development, user acceptance testing (UAT), and defect triage.

Agile & Requirements Development

· Partner closely with business SMEs to elicit and refine detailed functional and non-functional requirements for application enhancements.

· Write clear, concise, and comprehensive Agile user stories and acceptance criteria.

· Participate in Agile ceremonies, including backlog refinement, sprint planning, daily standups, and retrospectives.

· Explain and clarify user stories to software engineers during refinement sessions to ensure shared understanding.

· Collaborate with Product Owners to prioritize the backlog based on business value and dependencies.

· Work with engineering teams to ensure stories are fully understood and ready for development.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

· Communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

· Ensure requirements are aligned with strategic goals, operational needs, and technical constraints.

· Support change management activities by contributing to training materials, communications, and rollout planning, where necessary.

Skills and Requirements

· 5+ years of experience as a Business Analyst, Product Owner, or similar role in the Banking domain

· Strong ability to gather and translate business needs into technical requirements.

· Demonstrated experience writing Agile user stories and acceptance criteria.

· Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.

· Excellent communication, facilitation, and stakeholder-management skills.

· Familiarity with Azure DevOps

· Familiarity with Miro Experience with a Credit System rewrite project
