Location : Remote within thecontinental US, with the ability to travel to campuses and other locations. Candidates located in vicinity of one of Antioch University's 5national campuses preferred.

Compensation: Antioch University offers a competitive compensation and benefits packagethat includes both direct and indirect pay. The compensation will be based on experience, education, knowledge, credentials, and aconsideration of the difficulty and complexity of the position. The salary range for this position is $110,000.00 - $120,000.00.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Vice President of Academic Affairs and University Provost, the Director ofInstitutional Research is responsible for all university-level institutional research functions, including but not limited to thedevelopment of a comprehensive institutional research program to support the University's mission. The Director is a member of theUniversity Office of Academic Affairs team and works collaboratively with the Cabinet, governance committees, and offices across the university to assure a comprehensive approach to institutional effectiveness.

The Director serves as a chief data advisor tosupport strategic planning, accreditation compliance, academic planning, retention and degree completion, program reviews, student learning outcomes, enrollment projections and other processes requiring strategic analysis. This includes conducting periodic environmental scans to stay apprised of external and internal threats and opportunities.

Duties and Responsibilities

The OIRDirector will carry out duties and responsibilities with a great degree of independence, accountability, and confidentiality.

A. Leadership:

    1. Direct the personnel and operations of the OIR.
    2. Recruit, train, supervise, andevaluate personnel.
    3. Establish standards for data management, including data definitions, data coding standards, and enterprisedatabase designs.
    4. Develop, implement and oversee the university's Institutional Research Plan.
    5. Assist the businessoffice budgeting, planning and resource allocation processes.
    6. Co-chair the Data Governance Committee.
    7. Modernizeuniversity processes by identifying university needs (such as surveys, evaluations, assessments, and reporting) that can be addressed bysoftware tools, and help in selecting appropriate analytical tools.
    8. Promote a culture of data-informed decision-making byproviding training, consultation, and tools that improve data literacy among faculty, staff, and administrators.

B. Institutional Research and Reporting:

    1. Provide direction, leadership, and information to theuniversity administration, faculty and staff related to the interconnectedness between strategic plan, institutional effectiveness,assessment, and budget. Develop and update content and presentation of OIE data on Antioch University website for both internal and external consumption.
    2. Ensure compliance with required data reporting and completion of external surveys for internal and external audiences and agencies, such as enrollment, budget, registration. Serve as the IPEDS keyholder, and work with the University Registrar on oversight of the National Student Clearinghouse process.
    3. Plans and implements performance-related research studies, including selecting and analyzing data, preparing statistical and narrative reports, designing appropriate research and visual communication methods, and recommending the further collection of required data elements by administrative and academic staff;
    4. Develop databases and reports for internal and external (federal- and state- mandated accountability reporting and grant reporting) audiences in areas including but not limited to:
      • Enrollment, Revenue and Cost Analysis
      • Student Persistence and Completion
      • Academic Assessment
    5. Support the University's academic assessment system and other activities associated with the assessment of student learning and student success.
    6. In collaboration with the University Director of Academic Compliance, develop and implement processes for collecting and reporting data required for regional accreditation and state authorization.
    7. Provide consultation and support to faculty for data collection and analysis related to specialized or professional accreditation needs.
    8. Collaborate with Enrollment Management, Student Services, Finance, Marketing, Human Resources and Information Technology to integrate institutional data and analytics across the student lifecycle.

C. Other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Academic Affairs andUniversity Provost.

Qualifications and Requirements

Education and Experience:

    1. Master's degree from a regionally accredited college or university in a social or behavioral science discipline, informationscience, data science, computer science, or mathematics, or a closely related field that includes statistics or research methodology,required.
      • Bachelor's degree in an above mentioned discipline and significant leadership experience within an office ofinstitutional effectiveness/research in an institution of higher education may be considered equivalent.
    2. Minimum fiveyears of experience in academic or institutional assessment, institutional planning, or continuous quality improvement experience in ahigher education setting is required.
    3. Minimum of two years of supervisory experience.
    4. Demonstrated broad set oftechnical skills and expertise with data management software including business intelligence tools, dashboards and other comparable softwareto analyze, organize and present data. Proven success in developing data and research, both quantitative and qualitative, to supportinstitutional decision making.
    5. Demonstrated ability to support the institutional priorities for AI/data ethics awareness; interestin supporting equity analytics.
    6. Ability to work effectively, collaboratively, and cooperatively with a diverse body of faculty,staff, and administrators.
    7. Ability to work effectively via phone, email, videoconferencing and in person with faculty, staff, andadministrators.
    8. Experienced, proven, and effective use of Excel and Excel Pivot Tables. Demonstrable skill in advanced statisticaltechniques related to sampling and projection. Knowledge of query techniques associated with relational databases, SQL in particular, andthe applied use of various statistical tools (i.e. SPSS, SAS, R, Access, Excel).
    9. Familiarity with modern institutional dataarchitectures including operational data stores, data warehouses, ETL (extract, transform, load) processes, and integrated analyticsplatforms
    10. Experience with standard external reports in higher education such as IPEDS, the Common Dataset, CSRDE and so on.
    11. Ability to learn new technologies quickly and proficiently.
    12. Ability to remain calm under stressful circumstances and/oraggressive deadlines; ability to manage multiple tasks concurrently.
    13. Demonstrated strength in written and oral communicationskills, including the ability to translate complex data analyses into clear insights for non-technical audiences.
    14. Strongorganizational skills.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills & Experience:

    1. Experience atan institution that serves non-traditional students or multiple sites.
    2. Demonstrated experience in a higher education regionalaccreditation process.
    3. Knowledge of the Ellucian Colleague system.
    4. Knowledge of the SAP Business Objects environment forreporting.
    5. Experience with survey development, design, administration and oversight.

Hours ofEmployment

This is a full-time position serving a national university which may occasionally require extra hours over a 40hour work week. A work schedule will be established in consultation with the Vice President and University Provost.

This is a fully remote position. Candidates located in vicinity of one of Antioch University's 5 national campusespreferred.
