Position Details

Job Title: PLC Controls Engineer II
Location: Traveling 90% of the time
Duration: 6 Months (Possible extension)
Pay Rate: $40.00 - $50.00/hr.

Job Description

• 8am–5pm schedule, with some variability

• Interviews via TEAMS Video

• 90% travel to client sites across ~20 U.S. locations

• Weekly expense reimbursement via Misc invoice

• Experience with post and parcel material handling projects strongly preferred

✈️ Travel Clarification

• Base Location: Mason, OH (for onboarding & in-house work)

• Experience: Material Handling, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Post & Parcel preferred

• Schedule: Typically 40–60 hours/week

• Standard Rotation: 10 days onsite, 4 days offsite

• Site Duration: 2–6 weeks, possibly rotating across locations

Role Summary

The PLC Controls Engineer II will commission and test automated material handling systems with high-speed sortation. This role oversees the entire controls scope—budget, schedule, and team coordination—through the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead implementation of electrical controls systems

• Manage project scope and technical deliverables

• Develop technical documentation and test plans

• Execute QA/QC, BUAT/UAT/FAT, and onsite commissioning

• Provide training and post-installation support

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams

✅ Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred

• 2-4 years in controls engineering within warehouse automation/material handling

Technical Expertise

PLC Programming & Electrical Design:

• Allen-Bradley, Beckhoff

Drives & Interfaces:

• VFD setup, HMI design (Wonderware, Aveva Edge, SCADA)

• Machine vision/scanner integration (SICK, Cognex)

Software & Tools:

• Logix 5000, Studio 5000, RSLinx, FactoryTalk, Aveva Edge

• AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, B&R Automation Studio

• SST Profibus Config Tool, Ignition, SOPAS, Datalogic DataMan

Networking & Protocols:

• Ethernet, Profibus, Warehouse Control Systems

Soft Skills:

• Strong planning & budgeting

• Effective communicator

• Team player with ability to work independently in fast-paced settings
