Staff Acoustics Engineer
- Execute acoustic analysis, design, test, and integration required to define and support assigned components, assemblies, and systems that meet business standards and product requirements.
- Drive innovation in acoustics through computational modeling, tool development, and test support, particularly as it relates to acoustic predictions of aircraft engines.
- Experience in predicting engine and aircraft community noise levels, ensuring accurate acoustic performance projections.
- Modernize legacy tools and develop new software solutions to address contemporary and future challenges in computational aeroacoustics.
- Run Computational Aeroacoustics (CAA) analyses on turbomachinery components to support design optimization and noise reduction efforts.
- Provide acoustic technical guidance, training, and mentoring to junior engineers.
- Drive continual technical and process improvement through design practice reviews and revisions in collaboration with the Chief Consulting Engineer and Manager.
- Prepare invention disclosures to protect technology that gives the business a competitive advantage, as well as protecting the intellectual property rights of the company.
- Effectively communicate and provide recommendations through the analysis, preparation, and presentation of technical data to internal and external GE customers using reports, records, and letters.
- Collaborate with internal leadership and external customers, including airframers, to understand requirements, provide technical insights, and deliver tailored solutions.
- Master's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- At least 7 years of industry experience in an acoustics, aircraft engine or CAA/CFD applications.
- PhD degree in Engineering with a focus in acoustics.
- Demonstrated experience performing computational aeroacoustics analyses on HPC resources.
- Familiarity with acoustic testing, data post-processing, and evaluation.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, MATLAB, or FORTRAN for tool development and modernization, with a demonstrated interest in creating innovative solutions for emerging acoustic challenges.
- Experience leading, documenting, planning, and promoting technical programs and projects in acoustics.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
