Medical Device Surface Finishing Technician — Laser Marking & Passivation

From the moment you clock in, you’ll be the go‑to expert who brings precision‑machined medical components to their flawless finish. You’ll work from specification sheets and traveler docs, apply exacting surface treatments, mark parts with critical identifiers, and package them for customers who rely on our quality every time.

A day in the life

• Interpret and follow specification sheets while adhering to SOPs, GMPs, and GDPs.
• Operate laser etching equipment and demonstrate mastery of Visual Laser Marker (VLM) software.
• Perform ultrasonic cleaning, media blasting, tumbling, and passivation to required standards.
• Assemble components, complete precise packaging, and apply labels accurately.
• Use measuring tools and visual inspection aids to verify tolerances and surface condition.
• Maintain strict safety practices, uphold 5S in your work area, and meet team and company goals.
• Collaborate across teams and step in for other duties as needed.

What you bring

• High school diploma or GED, plus 1–3 months of related industry experience/training (or equivalent mix of education and experience).
• Comfort reading blueprints/diagrams and following written and verbal work instructions.
• Basic math skills to interpret tolerances and variation; foundational CNC, laser, and parameter concepts.
• Mechanical aptitude and dexterity; confident with both hand and power tools.
• Excellent eyesight and hand–eye coordination; able to hit quality and output targets in a fast pace.
• Ability to perform in‑process and final quality checks and identify items for rework when needed.
• Commitment to safe production practices.
• Basic scripting/programming literacy (e.g., Visual Basic or similar) and fluency with Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.
• Understanding of fixture concepts.
