Ecocamp Kitchen Assistant

FLSA Status: Full-Time, Seasonal Employee
Position Description
To assist the Kitchen manager in preparing and serving nutritious meals and in maintaining the cleanliness and sanitation of the kitchen and dishwashing area. This position is responsible for the preparation, service, and clean-up of breakfast from a pre-planned weekly menu; assisting the kitchen manager with the preparation, service, and clean-up of lunch; and the preparation and baking of the dinner dessert. All food service work is supported by additional camp staff during mealtimes.

Schedule: 40-hour weeks, Monday-Friday, 7:00am-4:00pm with a 1 hour break mid-morning
Primary Responsibilities
- Assist in the daily operations of the camp food service, including:
- Preparation of food as the menu indicates
- Set up food, supplies, and utensils for dining hall distribution
- Store food and leftovers at proper temperature
- Assist in routine sanitation of the kitchen and related equipment.
- Clean and maintain all food-preparation and storage areas.
- Wash all dishes, serving and preparation equipment, and utensils according to regulated washing methods and temperatures.
- Reduce waste, reuse items, and recycle as indicated through the camp’s procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.

Requirements
Qualifications
- Minimum - 18 years of age
- Applicant must be patient, hardworking, flexible, and able to react well under pressure
- Willing to work closely as a team
- Must be fingerprinted and pass a FBI/Ohio BCI criminal background check prior to the start of training
- Experience preferred in the basic understanding and operation of a commercial kitchen as it pertains to sanitation, preparation, use of equipment, safety, and service.
- Physical mobility and endurance to perform tasks while standing for long periods of time (60 minutes or more)
- Enthusiasm for working with children
