QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Graduate from an accredited nursing school.
  2. Licensure: Valid Ohio Registered Nurse license
  3. Skills: Sensitivity in relating to persons of varying backgrounds and demonstrated ability to work with diverse groups of people possessing various strengths, aptitudes and abilities.
    Ability to perform job responsibilities with a high degree of initiative and independent judgment.
    Demonstrated oral and written communication skills and effective interpersonal skills.
    Proficiency in using Agency computer systems and software as required to perform essential job functions.
    Practical and creative problem solving skills.
  4. Experience: Experience working with children and adolescents.

AGENCY SUMMARY: Lifeworks is a nonprofit organization dedicated to ensuring that individuals with autism lead healthy and enriched lives by providing essential clinical services across the lifespan. Founded in 2013, Lifeworks provides residential, vocational, and educational opportunities for adults throughout Northeast Ohio with a diagnosis of autism. Among its array of services, the agency offers behavioral health and Applied Behavior Analytic services for individuals of all ages who are on the spectrum.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Registered Nurse will be responsible for administering and supervising medication administration and participation in the plan of care for clients. They will respond to health needs of the clients as needed, making appropriate referrals and assessments.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:
  1. Administers and supervises the administration of medication to clients in residential treatment units within the established guidelines.
  2. Participates in the implementation of the plan of care for Monarch Lifeworks clients.
  3. Makes rounds in cottages and attends to health care needs of clients.
  4. Makes physical assessments of clients, and documents significant findings in the client’s record.
  5. Makes appropriate referrals to the pediatrician after screening clients.
  6. Teaches clients and staff about health care topics and medications.
  7. Utilizes the time log system to document billable hours of direct care.
  8. Performs medical treatments on clients when indicated (wound care, etc.).
  9. Orients new staff and trains them on policies and procedures.
  10. Attends client staffing and treatment team meetings as indicated.
  11. Assists and trains cottage staff to make appropriate decisions pertaining to the health care needs of clients.
  12. Notes, transcribes, and checks orders against Medical Administration Record (MARs) when indicated.
  13. Contacts the physician with abnormal lab results and with emergencies.
  14. Counts narcotics daily and signs the audit sheets for controlled substances.
  15. Orders, receives and distributes routine and Leave of Absence (LOA) medications.
  16. Returns and credits medications when indicated.
  17. Calls for lab results when indicated and follows up on outside medical appointments.
  18. Participates in Quality Improvement as indicated.
  19. Contribute to the development and maintenance of the clinical record through the timely completion of assigned documentation in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.

OTHER DUTIES:

  1. Attend scheduled staff meetings, supervision, and on-going training.
  2. All required trainings, certifications and licensure must be kept current in accordance with applicable licensing and accreditation regulations and standards.
  3. Respect the privacy of clients and hold in confidence all information obtained during the client’s treatment. All client-related documents should be handled in accordance with Agency guidelines on confidential material.
  4. Maintain high standards of ethical and professional conduct and adhere to Agency policies and procedures.
  5. Other duties as assigned by management.
