Industrial Coatings Application Specialist
About the Role
Join GTC, a federal contractor, as an Industrial Coatings Application Specialist. You’ll take parts from raw substrate to a flawless, spec-compliant finish through expert prep, spray, cure, and final assembly. If you thrive on precision work and clean, organized processes, this is a place to excel.
A Day in the Booth
- Review customer specifications and product technical data to determine application method, target film build, gloss, and appearance.
- Disassemble components as needed, mask and stage parts, and prepare surfaces using finishing, filler, sealing, color mixing, and masking techniques.
- Mix coatings accurately to formula and apply using HVLP, siphon-feed, gravity-feed, and pressure-feed spray equipment.
- Measure film thickness and verify finish quality aligns with aesthetic and specification standards.
- Prevent foreign object contamination throughout the coating process.
- Reassemble components post-finish and perform touch-ups as required.
- Maintain an organized, clean paint kitchen, booth, equipment, and storage area in line with 6S best practices.
- Work safely and in compliance with all environmental and safety requirements.
Shifts and Differential
- 2nd — 5:30pm – 5:30am (Monday–Friday, 4/12s)
- 2nd — 5:30pm – 3:30am (Monday–Friday, 5/10s)
- 2nd — 5:30pm – 3:30am (Monday–Thursday, 4/10s)
25% pay differentiation for 2nd shift
What You’ll Deliver
- Parts handled, prepared, painted, and assembled to customer specifications and standard shop practices.
- Finishes and coatings that meet best practices, specification, and aesthetic benchmarks.
- Continuous prevention and detection of foreign objects in the coating environment.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED.
- Acceptable visual acuity, including accurate color differentiation.
- Ability to read coating formulas and mix precisely.
- Thorough knowledge of surface prep: finishing, filler use, sealing, color mixing, and masking.
- Minimum 2 years as an industrial or automotive painter, including surface preparation; mixing and applying industrial coatings/finishes; and setting up/operating HVLP, siphon, gravity, and pressure-feed spray systems.
- Must be 18 or older.
