Jr. Industrial Engineer
Job Description
A retail employer in the Cincinnati area is seeking two Junior Industrial Engineers for a 12-month contract (with potential for extensions or hire-on, though not guaranteed). These roles support a major labor standards initiative aimed at improving operational efficiency across retail store locations. Engineers will help define and refine labor standards used to assign labor at the store level, contributing to a more accurate and optimized workforce model.
Labor Standards Development: Build and define labor standards using elemental motion analysis (e.g., grab, place, drop, squeeze) to model tasks like stocking shelves or packaging items.
Process Observation: Conduct in-store observations and video capture to analyze associate workflows and validate labor standards.
Tool Support: Use the Ease labor standards tool to develop and document engineered standards (no prior experience with Ease required).
Data Simplification: Help reduce and consolidate the current set of ~13,000 labor standards for improved usability and accuracy.
Operational Impact: Use labor standards to support labor allocation decisions at the store level
Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work with engineering and operations teams to align labor standards with business needs.
