Quality Engineer (Contract) -- Painesville, OH

Are you a detail-oriented engineer with a passion for ensuring high-quality products and processes? We are seeking a Quality Engineer to join a dynamic team in Painesville, Ohio on a full-time contract basis . This on-site role is an exciting opportunity to work across engineering, operations, and supply chain teams, helping to maintain top-notch quality standards, drive continuous improvement, and support audits and compliance initiatives.

What You'll Do

• Develop and implement quality control plans for products and processes

• Investigate customer complaints, returns, and nonconformance issues

• Conduct inspections, First Article and PPAP submissions, and support audits

• Lead corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) and verify results

• Use data-driven techniques (SPC, Six Sigma) to identify improvement opportunities

• Collaborate with internal and external teams to meet quality and compliance goals

• Prepare and maintain clear technical documentation and reports

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering

• 3--5 years of experience in quality engineering or manufacturing

• Knowledge of ISO 9001:2015; auditing experience preferred

• Familiarity with IPC 620; experience with AS9100 or ISO 13485 is a plus

• Strong skills in root cause analysis, CAPA, and statistical tools

• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and Microsoft Office

• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills

• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation

• Self-motivated, able to work independently and lead investigations

Preferred: ASQ CQE, Internal Auditor certification, or experience in aerospace, medical devices, or military industries

Contract Details

• Type: Contract (1099 or W-2, depending on arrangement)

• Schedule: Monday--Friday, 8 am--5 pm (overtime as needed)

• Location: On-site in Painesville, OH

• Duration: Project-based
